Alex Mercer, the main protagonist of Prototype

Activision officially announced a sequel to Prototype at Spike Video Game Awards show.

Originally teased in the first week of December on the www.MurderYourMaker.com, Prototype 2 will take place in New York City with new lead Sergeant James Allen, following his quest to kill Alex Mercer, the protagonist from the first game.

Prototype 2 is slated for a 2012 release.
