Destiny is set seven hundred years into the future in a post-apocalyptic setting following a prosperous period of exploration, peace and technological advancement known as the Golden Age.
As Destiny’s details are being revealed, we get more and more excited about what the future can hold. The creators of Halo have known to change the way we play game. They did it back in 2001. After splitting from Microsoft, Bungie found its new home under Activision. Since then, rumors have been circulating around what they have been up to. Details are being revealed slowly, and every time we are left a little bit surprised.
Humans had expanded their reach and were inhabiting other planets in the Solar System. They soon realized that they weren't the only ones who wanted to expand, and were attacked by an unknown threat. On the brink of extinction, some humans survived this conflict thanks to the Traveler; a big round space entity. As time went by, they re-built and developed under the Traveler’s protection and once they were ready, decided to take back the land that was stolen from them. Taking on the role of a special soldier called a Guardian, it is now up to us to take back our territories and ensure the survival of mankind. Guardians are fully customizable, from armour to weaponry. Players will be able to choose from a variety of classes, each with its own special abilities. For now, only the Hunter, Warlock and Titan have been revealed. They have also announced three races, the humans, Awoken and Exo. Destiny feels like an MMO, on a smaller, more focused scale.
Cities will act as hubs, from where players can even buy space cruisers and visit other planets and moons.
