Super Hexagon Monument Valley Leos Fortune Threes
Best Mobile Game

Mobile gaming doesn’t always have the best reputation, thanks in part to a flood of microtransaction-ridden titles and the innumerable clones out there. However, the mobile sector is still packed with passionate developers producing well thought out, fabulous games to while away our time on long journeys. In this category, we’ve looked at the best of the collective app stores for some truly stand-out titles.

Super Hexagon
It’s funny how the games that end up taking over your life are also so often the ones that make you want to punch a wall. Terry Cavanagh’s Super Hexagon is as addictive as it is frustrating. Dangerously compelling and overloaded with just one more go factor.

Monument Valley
Monument Valley is a stunningly beautiful, chic game that sees you guiding a princess through mazes of impossible objects on your quest to be forgiven. Reminiscent of the art of M.C. Escher, Monument Valley is an incredibly zen way to spend a few hours, and is a great reminder of the potential that remains in mobile gaming.

Leos Fortune
If the mustachioed fluff ball protagonist isn’t enough to convince you to pick up Leo’s fortune, the excellent level design and simple gameplay certainly will be. As you recover stolen treasure through 20 levels, Leo’s Fortune will reiterate how to do a mobile platformer perfectly.

Threes
Another example of where simple is best, this charming and incredibly addictive game has a simple mechanic that has spawned dozens of rip-offs, including the popular 2048. Threes’ slick interface and charming design, however, means it stays the original and best.
