Battlefield 1
They say third time’s the charm, and after the disasters of Battlefield 4 and Hardline, the deck seemed real stacked against EA and DICE. More than just a fresh lick of paint, Battlefield 1 takes the lessons learnt from previous installments to provide the most engaging Battlefield experience in recent history.

So there’s no surprise this game’s here is there? Massive scale WW1 player versus player battles with a huge assortment of weapons, vehicles and classes. Zeppelins and armoured trains?! Horses?!?! Nah, we can’t really think why Battlefield 1 is on this list.

Best Audio
Battlefield 1
There’s no doubt that the Battlefield series has had amazing audio for a long time now and Battlefield 1 is one of the greatest. From the the realistic sounds of far off conflicts to the ear melting explosions and subsequent tetanus from a nearby explosion. With headphones or with a surround sound this game most immersive feature is its audio and hence it has made our top audio list.

Unsurprisingly another great looking Battlefield game, it was easy to see with Battlefront last year where this game was heading and it’s hit all the targets. From the grand scenery, to burning zeppelins to the rust on you gun, this game was an absolute feast for our eye holes.

Battlefield 1
After years of gamers begging for AAA studios to return to the ever popular setting of World War 1 or 2, EA and DICE finally listened, giving us one of the highlights of the gaming year in Battlefield 1. Flung into the harrowing period of World War 1, we embarked on an anthology of war stories. Revert back to historical theatres of war, Battlefield 1 managed some surprising twists on an ageing franchise. World War One seemed like a nightmarish match for an online shooter, yet somehow DICE dug deep and delivered chaotic 64-player battles which will live long in history.
