Vampyr was an opportunity for Dontnod to really stretch its storytelling chops, radically changing tone after Life is Strange. And, for the most part, Vampyr delivers, particularly in terms of its narrative, which is both grounded and thoroughly hellish as London descends into vampiric carnage. Vampyr is also one of those rare games that truly allows its story to inform the gameplay, and vice versa, demanding the player makes tough decisions on who lives and who dies thanks to its unique feasting mechanic. The purer and more innocent the character, the more beneficial their blood, lending Vampyr a real feeling of choice and consequence.
