Watchdog GTX760 performance!
Written by: maleficarus - 14:19 May-27-2014

I decided to give watchdogs a try and see how it runs on my PC then share my performance experience with you all. I played the beginning sequence of single player. First, my system specs:

i5 Quad 2500K @ 4.0GHz

8GB Corsair DDR3-1600

ASUS P8Z68V-PRO

ASUS GeForce GTX 760 2GB (1200 boost/6400memory) *337.88 WHQL*

ASUS Xonar DS

1TB Seagate SSHD (Hybrid)

Win 7-64bit

I was using retail fraps and my average frame rate was 55 FPS:

My game settings were everything set to ultra except I made ambient occlusion: HBAO+low  and I turned AA completely off. I forced V-sync off as well. Resolution was 1080P. I did notice that it became really stuttery at some points when I moved my player to look around. Looks like this game is poorly coded for the PC. Overall it was a smooth experience for me. The game is really good in my opinion. I hope you guys have good experience as well! Thanks for looking...

maleficarus

***Update***

Reducing the in-game textures to "medium" solved the stuttering issues for me!

Ultra preset, ultra textures, no AA, VSync ON here. 60fps most of the time (minor drops when driving - hopefully fixed by a patch) SSD drives help a lot with stuttering too :)

i have played with everuthing on ultra even the textures with my cpu to 4.0 and my gpu oc to max (without voltage) around 1250mhz and i was able to play about 25mins without to much stuttering a little freeza now and then but nothing to worry but after that time it was hell!… now im playing everything on ultra but with textures on high and im playing just fine, few drops to 25/30 fps

from time to time but plays very well. oh and with fxaa on both runs, with msaa just kills my gpu, and res.1080p. im about to try the new drivers to see if there is any improvement so i can push textures to ultra. (by the way the difference is almost none)

Stuttering because you have a 2GB card for which high textures are recommended.

You guys were right. The texture setting needs to be properly set for the amount of memory on your VGA card. I reduced to medium and the stuttering went away.

Well, this just points to how important the amount of VGA memory plays a role in 2014 games now. I never had issues with VGA ram before this title…

i honestly believe it is the hard drive and not memory issue, the world is very detailed, lots of stuff everywhere (fences, trashcans, bus stops, phones) that use textures, the hard drive can't keep up with the rest of hardware when you move around the world very fast, with a car for example and the game freezes rather than stutters until all of these textures get loaded into VRAM, i believe this is the case since gpu is fairly well bellow it's vram limit and i still have this issue unless i have textures set on medium

i'd really appreciate if someone would sacrifice a few hours of SSD life for the sake of finding out if what i'm saying is right, i have no SSD so i can't test it myself

Ya Nvidia themselves recommend a SSD to take care of texture loading.

@Maleficarus can you log some Memory usage with GPU-Z can tell me the results?
btw Nvidia recommends these settings for GTX760 for 35+fps under all circumstances.
Everything on high except LOD and water on ultra.
