Asking for advice about buying a gaming monitor
Written by: kaizervag - 21:29 Oct-05-2014

Hello guys, i am currently gaming on this monitor for years and I have been fairly happy with it. The thing is that after 3 years with it, I have to upgrade, and since my budget is not that big, about 200 Euros I want to check out what you guys have to say. If you have had experience with a gaming monitor and can recommend it please do. I am interested in 1080p monitors about 23 inches.

Thank you all in advance!

your rig looks perfect! why do you want to upgrade. everything is balance (except maybe that cpu is slight overkill for gaming) better save that money and invest a better gpu should yours become bottleneck in the future or get some games. or you could even turn up some aa or game settings to get sharper graphics

Don't waste your money... What you have now is good. Possibly selling off your gtx 780 and using the money you have saved up plus the money from selling the 780 could land you maybe.... a GTX 980???

780 is not - but is close to being an overkill at 1080p, and gtx 980 is definitely an overkill at 1080p. There's almost no need to, for an example, upgrading from a 770 if you aren't gonna play anything higher than 1080p

that is why i advise him to either turn up the game setting or get some form of AA.

99% of all time There is no game setting to turn up except AA because 780 kills anything at 1080p. A 1440p monitor would look way better. Some People even claim AA isn't worth it at 1080p

Yeah you are all right, it is just that I think that due to the fact that it is an older monitor my eyes are getting tired easier and a new one would be better. And of course a 1440p is beast but it is way too expensive here in Greece. Anyway thank you all for the input! :)

if that's the case. there is some monitor now with this "low blue light" tech thing which supposedly reduce eye strain and they are more comfortable with prolong usage. i think benq has quite a number of them but i couldnt remember which model is it.

Is it really worth upgrading from a 1080p monitor to another 1080p monitor? Because, your rig can easily handle a higher resolution, I would say 1440p would be great. So, isn't it better to save up for a monitor with higher resolution?

Yeah you are right, but the thing is that in Greece where i live i cant find any affordable 1440p monitors. And i should mention i am not a fan of amazon or ebay when it comes to big purchases.

I know how you feel brother... Here(in Bulgaria, above you) the delivery from amazon and ebay is usually 50-80Euro, for big purchases...
