Can I upgrade to an AMD R7 260X?
Written by: GamingAsian0 - 03:58 Oct-08-2014

I am planning on getting a GPU upgrade from my current AMD HD 7570 to a AMD R7 260x. The question is my HP Formosa compatible with it. I am not planning on the upgrading for quite a while, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading and I hope you give your opinion or information.

you can go for the r7 260x, though it's not really worth it. Especially with that CPU. Save up and buy a r9 270x at least, I'd recommend the r9 285 for you, now that it has come down in price :)

do you have any information about your psu? psu is the first item you need to know before any upgrading. check if it had enough juice to power any card. next, if you werent tight on budget, get 285 (since amd slashing the price now) or 970. that is much more better to suit your cpu and 1080p resolution

The reason I didn't put information about my PSU in the blog is because I would have to get a more powerful one if I am thinking of upgrading at all

but if you were to upgrade any graphics card, (lower than 265) your cpu is severely bottleneck (unless you are tight on budget). you can just take a bronze 650 watts or 600 watts psu (shouldnt be expensive) and get a 270x or 285. 970 if you can

Yes, so I'm considering a r9 270x and a 750 Watt PSU. I want the 700 Watt PSU becuase I wanted the 600 Watt but it was just a $5 difference

that is good! 270x is lot better than a 260x. and it also help in reducing the gap with your cpu in gaming. which psu btw? a 270x and a 700w( although a bit overkill but since it is just $5 difference it's okay) is a good choice

Now, I have my eyes set on MSI r9 280 with a 650w cooler master.

It isnt much of upgrade get atleast 265 but for such a beastly resolution and CPU get a 280 or 285 or 970 if you can. You PC can handle it easily.

Completely skip the r7 series. It would be a waste of an upgrade. Save for something in the r9 series, if you can.

Otherwise, the r7 should do just fine.

Thanks, I think the R9 285 is a better choice right now.
