new laptop suggestions.
Written by: hoseinz - 13:49 Oct-22-2014

so guys,im going to be selling my PC in a while since im either going to college in 9 months or if i f*ck that up ,to work either way i wont have time for gaming and stuff and i want to get a good laptop, nothing too Fancy with a GTX880M Quad SLI.just something good and...whats the word im looking for...efficient i guess?

budget is somewhere between 600~900 $.so far i've come across the Asus N series (ASUS N56JR in particular) which looks amazing,GTX 760M 8 GB Ram FHD and 1 TB HDD,with DVD RW.it costs 1100$ so i dont know if i can afford it.

so first things first,The brands, which brands do you guys think are good.i've heard lenovo Lappy's dont have very high quality and stuff, and Acer is pretty much sh*t since i've experienced it first hand.so which brands should i research/would you suggest? MSI? Asus? HP? Sony? Apple? (that was a joke)

second is,i wont be doing heavy gaming (or any gaming most of the time) at all.so no need for 2000 GB of DDR 69 Ram,just something that would get me through the day,4 GB of ram is more than enough. For the GPU,maybe something like a GT740 or 750? wouldn't mind GDDR5 if the price is good.

and as for the CPU,anything better than a mobile i3.or a REALLY good i3.like i said not a whole lot of gaming, and i wouldnt mind running games on low.oh and it needs to have a DVD Drive.

battery life is obviously important, how long it last during gaming doesnt matter because its not like im going to be playing during work/college.just how long it last doing stuff like notepad and word and shit like that.not even surfing the almighty web.not too much heating and stuff would also be a nice addition.

Screen quality:FHD...MAYBE? if possible?? as for the IPS and NT or whatever it is i have no idea which is better so....yeah

the games i MAY play in my 2~3 hours of spare time i would have would be DotA 2,Warcraft 3.WoW maybe??(2~3 hours of WoW,like thats gonna happen),And maybe some ARPGs like Torch light and stuff.

so if you people (didnt want to be sexist) know any laptops that match the following specs or are better withing the given budget of 600~900$,please tell me

Min CPU:i3                                                                                   Max CPU:anything withing the budget

Min GPU:GT x30 (x | x>=7)  or GTX x50 ( x| 5

AMD mobile GPU's seem sort of ...sh*t but i dont know,if you know one which is good let me know.

Min Ram:4~6 GB

Min Res: 768P but with good quality and contrast and stuff

min HDD:who gives a f*ck.

thanks in advance,i already have a website which sells Laptops which im scouting, but your help will be appreciated. Peace

Edit 1: nice laptops i've found so far, opinions will be nice,

There are usually a TON of different laptops, so why not visit the site of a big retailer in your country, that sells a big variety of them for decent/low prices and give us some nice examples or its website? This way we can help more. Cause we do not know if for example Dell 3737 is available in your country, or at what prices, so we cannot promote anything in our position.

another laptop similar to the link above, this one has stronger cpu but PROBABLY a bit higher power consumption, at least when you use the cpu a lot. otherwise, idle state should be fine:

this one has an amd gpu. they're quite good from my personal experience, and a 6-cell battery instead of 4, so it should offer a lot more battery life than the others above

this one has low-power consumption with nice performance, but 4 cell battery, so ask them if you can pay a little more and get a compatible 6 cell or more battery (you can even buy 8-cell or 10-cell) , also, ask this quesion for the laptops above, you might hit the perfect price-performance-battery spot with another battery:

there are other options similar to the above, but most had 4 cell battery, or 768p screen, or only 4 gb ram. so here is my advice to you:
get at least 6 gb of ram
get at least 6 cell battery if you need mobility (unless you can charge it there)
look for something like the above and ask if you can add more ram to make 4->8gb or 4 cell battery to 6/8, and customise it a bit

if you can get 900p/1080p with nice dual core cpu (4th gen), a decent gpu, 6gb ram and 6 cell battery for less than 800$, you will have made an awesome choice!
768p is decent too if need be, comprimises have to be made sometimes.

we ll be here for any questions you have, or to make sure your final purchase is good, just ask us again in this post or pm.

i saw your edit. they are nice, but this one:

is a bit more expensive than the flex you have chosen, and has 8 gb of ram and 1 tb hdd, so consider it more. and again, ask for the battery and ram upgrade :)

GT840M is quite okay, so you could definitely go for it :)

In general for IPS vs TN:
IPS has better color reproduction and great viewing angles (know that blue/blackshift you get from looking at a monitor sideways? That's TN. And that's what you won't have when you have IPS)
TN generally has a faster response time, but nothing too noticeable.

What would really help in finding a good laptop is some sites we can look at so we can see what the options are :)

The website isn't useable via google translate.
I can use it a little bit without the translation, but I can't seem to understand the currency. I assumed you would be using the Iranian Rial (the only iranian currency the converter I use seem to know), but your budget ($900) would be 24 million rial, which would be weird because all laptops are below 5 million...

its Toman, which is Rial /10. and that currency converter is Drunk, because 3100 Toman (31000 rial) =1 $.so just divide the number on the website by 3100 and you get the price in USD

Hmm, I'm using an HP Pavillion, and I'm very pleased with it. It cost 480 euros, but it can play BF4 on Low, Titanfall on Medium and several other games. It has an AMD A8-APU with a Radeon HD 8670M (5 star rating here). Pretyy sure you can get a Lenovo with a 8970M (10 star rating for 600-700)

I generally found Intel-based notebooks to be expensive, or don't come equipped with a dedicated GPU. And AMD's Dual-Graphics system isn't perfect, but on new drivers it offers slightly higher performance than only 1 GPU (differs per game)

PS: Radeon HD 8970M has an 8 star rating, my bad. Also, you can install AMD's drivers on HP notebooks. On lappies such as Toshiba's and VAIO's you're stuck with the OEM's drivers.

a lappy with a 8970 will probably cost 2000+ $ which is WAAAAAAAAAY over my already stretched out budget, also APU laptops are rare in my country.dont really know why

I am sorry? You can just go to the AMD site and download your drivers from there, no matter who the OEM of your PC is...

Let me clear up one thing first. Lenovo is probably the best quality you can get. Mainly the casing, keyboard and screen feel and are very good! Dell is about the same.

Not to much of a fan of the cheaper Asus laptops. HP is way to expensive and MSI laptops usually are humongous.

Also you'd have to choose between a good CPU and battery life. They don't go hand in hand together and a priority has to be made. For non gaming purposes you don't need a dedicated graphicscard

I mean even most Macbook Air / Pro run on integrated graphics cards...

To be honest... the Macbook Air 13" is the only laptop I can recommend in that list. It's the only one with decent specifications (all games you can play on OS X you'll play on high settings with 60+ FPS) and 12+ hour battery life.

The Lenovo G510 is the fastest of the 3. With the R7 M265 performing a lot better than the GT 740M. But do note the R7 M265 will draw a lot more power and heats a lot more. The G510 also has most GB of RAM and a good battery.

I must agree on one thing, Lenovo might be overall best, especially because comfortable keyboard, MSI GE60 I have has probably slightly better keyboard (SteelSeries) but it's over your budget;
therefore overall "winner" for me would be Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70 black - it features all you need: 15.6" 1080p, i5-4210U, GT840M, 8GB ram, 1TB HDD, comfortable numeric keyboard :))

the 5070 is around 1500$ and its not even available.i've checked notebook check and,the Lenovo's Battery life is really low,-6 and a half hours ide, where as the dell R15 has -12,and has twice as much battery life ,but i dont know.btw isnt the 8850M better than the 265M? i thought it was? according to GD it is anyways.also the Z510 has backlit K/b which is a nice addition, but is a bit (actually a lot -20 dB louder) and heats -5 degrees more.so i dont really know for sure what to get,but its a long time til i get the Laptop so i have time to investigate and research

HP isn't expensive at all where I live. This laptop set me back 480 euros. And I can play BF4 on low at 720p. Pretty good deal I think. I've heard a lot about Lenovo's software being off. Like temps around 90 degrees being documented when idle. But that's all hearsay.
