Radeon HD 7970 vs GeForce GTX 760 vs DUAL-X R9 270X
Written by: uhraurhua - 12:17 Nov-17-2014

A friend of mine wants to buy a new GPU and he isn't sure what to buy. He doesn't have a game-debate account so I posted this for him in order to find out what is better. I told him to go for the R9 so what do you guys think?

i say hd7970 and the hd7970 is more comparible with gtx770 not with gtz760 the gtx 760 is comparible with r9 270x but there is no big diference betwen those two cards.. only nvidia card is a lot more expansive...

the hd7970 is the best out of the three.
the gtx 760 trades blows with the r9 270x.
There is only one problem with the hd7970 and that is that it's old, thus it has less support.
I would go for the r9 270x, because you can usually find it for 150-170$, while the gtx 760 is 230-250$ and the gtx 760 is only less than 5% better than the r9 270x but if you like nvidia, go for the gtx 760.

Basically: 7970 is better than the 760 which is better than the 270x.

But with the 7970 being pretty much 2 generations old, it might be difficult to get a new one, and support will be dropped sooner.
With this in mind and if there is no limit on cost, the 760 is only very slightly more expensive than the 270x and the overclocked editions will be on-par with the standard 7970 (non-GHz edition)
