FIXED Farcry 4 benchmark.
Written by: Sc0tty - 23:04 Nov-24-2014

As we all know, Farcry 4 is/has to be one of Ubisoft most game changing titles they've released this year. As this title has broken their chain of messes as they've so tried to blame on AMD and other dev's.

But not to bash on Ubisoft, this is one hell of a game and title they've followed up on and it's certainly one not to miss out on. And on a serious note. Is become close to my favorite in the series following our jungle frontier and evacuation.

My experience with this game has been.. the utmost fun.. and anger at the same time.. the game runs beautiful on a high end system while those of us with our mids and lows have to tweak a little bit. Just to get the right frame-rate that we want to play on

I wrote this  to share my experience on this game and to give some insight on what settings one should use with the hardware close to mine in performance. Those who don't know my rig.

FX-8350 Overclocked to 4.5 GHZ

GTX 770(directCU II OC Edition) Overclocked memory +40 Core clock +41(shouldn't be a real difference from a stock 770

8GB G.SKILL 2133 sniper ram running at 1600 MHZ, My mobo limits it.. heh im cheap..

And a cheap MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard

I also find this game LOVES overclocked processors.. the difference between my stock 8350 and my OC'D one is night and day.. 20 fps different.. weird huh?

I have my settings as follows

Textures- ULTRA

Shadow-ULTRA

Post FX-ULTRA

Geometry-HIGH

Terrain-ULTRA

Water-ULTRA

Enviroment-ULTRA

Ambient Occlusion-SSBC(HBAO+ If you don't mind to sacrifice)

Anti-Aliasing-OFF

Godrays-ENHANCED

Fur-ON

Tree Relief-OFF

I TRULY emphasize on having geometry high.. to me its just a useless setting and I hardly see a difference.. and in all honesty.. this game is still.. STILL beautiful on high.. turning geometry to high should give you a good 10 fps boost and hopefully these settings should work good for you guys.
Thanks for giving this a look, hopefully all you intel users can squeeze even more out of this game than I can.. Happy gaming guys!

I manage to get 60+ FPS on everything ultra, geometry very high, and MSAA 2x, but i have a lower res so that's why, and i have motion blur turned off cause i dont like it, i disable it in every game.

IMO both assassin's creed and far cry games are beautiful on both low and ultra, with ultra being slightly better.

Woud recommend selling your 770 while its worth some cash, and buy a 970, if you need more power get 970 sli (PS: 770 Sli is about equal to a 690, 980 beats a 690) :)

Good point, probably sell this 770 around income tax time and use that towards the difference on a 980 best bet

Ah, so with these tweaks, you run it at 60fps then?

There's millions of tutorials on how to overclock.. the 8350 is specifically really easy.. Also.. I really hope you're not using the stock cooler with the fx 8350.. >.> you should be able to get to 4.4 on stock voltage and even that is a little benifit in games.

These settings are spot on with mine. I'm actually learning that switching from ENHANCED to Volumetric Fog during different times of the day, or where I'm located really gives it a fun, and different feel with all the fog and clouds, especially when in the air. Enhanced lighting can have too high a contrast at times, though this'll all change within 1.5.0+.

P.S. He is right. Keep Geometry on HIGH.
