NovaBench Score Results
Written by: passo1987 - 22:41 Jan-15-2015

Hello guys!

I recently build my new PC and I'm really proud of that build , only because it's my first so strong PC , before I had some old Phenom and low end AMD graphic card . It was ok for low graphic playing but I always want something better and here I'm with my current rig . I did add some benchmarks mostly to check what my " beast " can achieve . With NovaBench Score I was happy but then I start comparing other members scores with my . What I noticed ( maybe I'm wrong , that's why I'm writing this ) is that weaker Nvidia cards get better scores . I'll give some examples , my Graphic Score is 841 ( using XFX r9 280x DD Black Edition ) , comparing that to MSI GTX 760 Gaming OC Edition which scores 882 ( according to GD my GPU is 16% better )  and EVGA GTX 660 Ti sc Edition with score of 920 ( again 22% weaker than my card ) , all of that don't make sense for me .  I know some of you probably will say that Nvidia cards are better , but still comparing them in games ( i done a lot of research before purchase ) my card have better performance . So can anyone explain that to me , because I'm getting depressed slowly and start having nightmares ;)

P.S Sorry if I make some spelling mistakes but English is not my first language .

Thank you for reading and hopefully I find some answers in here

Every Benchmark favorites other aspects of the hardware. My oc Kaveri cann run AC3, BF4, TR, etc at 1080p with mid-high settings flawless, and sometimes even better than my brothers can with there Zotac GTX 470 AMP!Edition, so even normal Games run on a "worse" Hardware better then on a "supperior" hardware.

Game debate says your GPU isabout 3.5 times faster, and Nova says your GPPU is about 5.5 faster than mine, So you can see Benchmarks tend to vary. Your card is Damn good so you wont have to worry, AFAIK your card is better than both.

Hey, the score you get with either the CPU ir the GPU is not always accurate. Different editions of your 280x get different results, if yours is lower than a gtx 760 it doesnt necessarily mean that it is weaker or deffecting. About the cpus, it is again not very accurate to calculate the performance, especially if its intel vs amd. All three brands have their weakness and positive things so dont let novabench fool you. Download heaven benchmark for more accurate results.

917 on the grafics test, and 2001 over all.
But if you want an actual gaming performance benchmark test get unigine heaven.
I hear a lot of good things about it, haven't tested it myself yet though.

Novabench is a quick tool to give a general indication and should not really be used for anything more.

If you want a great GPU comparison try 3Dmark FireStrike.
Only downside is it takes long to complete and is a 1GB download. That's why most people prefer running Novabench, since it's very fast and a small download
