Newegg leaks Visiontek RX 480 clock speeds.

Newegg had accidentally leaked the visiontek RX 480 on their website, however it has been pulled. The good thing is that people managed to quickly take snaps of the online store showing the RX 480 (Below)

As you can see the core clock is a nifty 1120Mhz and the boost clock is 1266Mhz however there wasn't any spotting of the 4GB version of the RX 480. It's not long now until the RX 480 will be released as many gamers are anticipated on getting their hands on a budget but powerful graphics card.

-8GB

-Core Clock 1120Mhz

-Boost Clock 1266Mhz

-1 x HDMI 3 x Displayport

-2304 (36CU) Cuda Cores 2304 Stream Processors

-PCI Express 3.0 x16

well this is the stock version and from what we've been told it will run at boost clocks none-stop as it will be really cool and somewhat quiet.

Hey psychoman, you still optimistic for the 480? I know I was but now Im having doubts.
Those supposedly leaked gaming benchmarks though, especially the witcher 3 one.. quite simply was underwhelming. High-ultra, hw off, ssao, for just above 60 fps for a portion of a game that isnt very demanding.

keep in mind that in Witcher 3 Hairworks and HBAO+ are Nvidia technologies, which are closed source, meaning AMD can NOT optimize for them and lower performance is expected also The Witcher 3 is an Nvidia optimized title in general and AMD have said that the pre-release date review samples are using outdated drivers, because they are freaking snails and can't make a driver fast enough.

And on the question if I'm still optimistic? Yes! As much as I was optimisitic about the gtx 1080 and gtx 1070(before I found out that the gtx 1080 costs 850 euro and the gtx 1070 costs 550 euro in country...)

I think that the stock RX 480 will be as good as a stock gtx 980 +/- 5% depending on the game and I would suggest that you do NOT have your hopes higher than that, when it comes to the reference models at stock clock/boost core speeds.

When it comes to sapphire's 1500Mhz clocked RX 480, I would say that it should be ALMOST as good as gtx 980ti(3 to 5% slower).

Also keep in mind that AMD have admitedlly ****ed up on the driver part and initial benchmarks of the RX 480 will be done on outdated drivers that were NOT written for the RX 400 series GPUs.

Also keep in mind the game optimization, if it is Nvidia optimized like the witcher do NOT expect AMD GPUs to perform as good and vice versa.

Also in DX12 titles AMD gpus in general will/should have an advantage because of the Asynchronous Compute Engines that they have and Nvidia's Pascal and Maxwell(or any architecture from Nvidia) do NOT, because they are either too stubborn to impliment them in their architecture or it was too late for Pascal to have them.

Cool, I appreciate the opinions.
I thought AMD GPUs did as well as NVIDIA's on Witcher 3. You see all these benchmarks (hw off, hbao+ on) where the 300 series does as well or sometimes better than the 900 series.
Anyway, so even the official reviews on the 29th would use unoptimized drivers?

I mean, I'm just looking forward to really seeing how well the rx 480 does on the 29th. It's not a big deal since I don't plan on buying anything just yet. But I'd love to see legit benchmarks with updated/optimized drivers.

well that's because the r9 300 series GPUs are just better than Nvidia's counter parts. The r9 380 is about 10-12% faster than the gtx 960, the r9 390 is 10% faster than the gtx 970, the R9 390x is about equal to the gtx 980 and from what I've seen with recent drivers game benchmarks the Fury(X) is as good as the gtx 980ti.

Also I will be buying a whole new PC next year with a Zen or Kabi lake for 200-250 euro and whatever AMD or Nvidia GPUs are out for 300 euro, though considering my recent rant-blog, I doubt it will be Nvidia.
