Weird Internet Issue Thats Been Occurring Over the Past Week
Written by: Jakester9002 - 01:12 Aug-18-2016

I've been having an odd problem while gaming. Randomly I will lose connection for roughly one second and then it all goes back to normal. There doesn't seem to be a specific thing that is causing it to happen. I asked my brother which me and him have the same wireless cards in our computers (he is also farther away from the wireless router) and he said that he hasn't been having this problem. I'm wondering if maybe my wireless card is showing signs of death?

The best game to show what was happening was in Overwatch with the network graph displayed. This same thing happens in any game that I've played:

Here's a still image of this weird lag spike:

Specs:

i5-4690k

GTX 1080 8GB

MSI Z97 PC-Mate

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD

Wireless Card: TP-Link N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter

--------

If it does happen to be my wireless adapter, what are some good ones that I should get as a replacement?

PS. I'm unable to do a wired connection due to my location in the house and I cannot move the wireless router either.. It sucks, I know..

You can get powerline adapters instead of a wireless card I've been using them for years.

I've used powerline adapters before...... if you live in an older house with older wiring they're simply not an option, they won't work at all or will be extremely unreliable... probably the worst experience I've ever had with any piece of technology is from powerline kits.
