Wireless Nintendo Switch Pro Controller doesn't work!
Written by: Myrmiron - 00:19 Jul-18-2018

Hello GD I'm facing quite a bit of trouble here and I'm hoping someone can help me.

I'm currently trying to get a Nintendo Switch pro Controller to work on my PC by pairing it via Bluetooth, but it simply doesn't work.

Here are the details:

My Bluetooth device is a Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I and I have the latest drivers installed.

The device appears to work just fine.

I have the standart Nintendo Switch pro Controller wich no drivers for it installed whatsoever, however this should - according to the internet - be just fine.

I don't have the Controller connected to the PC via USB and it got plenty of power as I charged it right before.

So here's what happens when I try to connect the controller:

Youtube link to video showing what happens.

As you can see it's status switches from "Connected" to "Paired" after some seconds without me pressing any buttons at all.

It then stays on "Paired" until I remove it.

At all times no button presses on the Pro Controller get registered at all by Windows.

So that's basically it.

If ANYONE knows ANYTHING about this, please let me know.

I'm currently using a workaround that translates the Controller's signal into Xinput through the USB cable, but it's not ideal.

Do you have another bluetooth dongle to try? very possible it's just not compatible with yours.

Sadly no I actually bought that one for this very purpose.
The controller works flawlessly on my laptops though, but I don't run Server 2016 on those.

This only applies to Steam but have you ticked the Switch Pro Controller option in Steam settings? That takes care of everything in Steam for me.

I would also try a different Bluetooth driver stack other than the default Windows one, it's not overly reliable.

Any recommendations? so far I only tried whatever Windows does!

is it possible it can only be registered by applications and not windows itself? cause windows is built for keyboards mice and touchscreens what i would do is try steam big picture mode see if controller works in that or pick a game you know has good controller support and give it a try

Already did that, nothing. :/
But thanks for guessing, keep it coming, I'm open for anything.
Btw Steam for example doesn't even recognize that there's a controller connected, I'm guessing my Server 2016 is missing a Service or something but I can't find anything online or offline.
It's also very weird since the controller works flawlessly on my Debian powered Notebook, so whatever it is it's probably very basic.
