It's pretty sad how badly Blizzard disrespected the franchise and fans of the franchise that put them on the map…. without Diablo, there'd be no WoW, no Overwatch, no Hearthstone……. yeah Warcraft came first, but it didn't blow anyone away, Blizzard was born of hell fire, Diablo was like nothing else available at the time, and it's when people started taking notice of them.

That whole presentation was a total sh*t show. To make matters worse they've acted like big cry babies. Even worse than Blizzard though are all so called games "journalists" calling gamers entitled babies. Seriously? F*ck them all. Gamers are entitled to spend their money where they want and to show their disapproval of products they don't want.

I completely agree…… there are times I do think the gaming community can be a little unreasonable, but this aint one of them…… the people talking BS about gamers being pissed about this need a serious reality check…… seems to me these so called "gaming journalists" are the entitled ones, industry shills and white knights who get to preach from their pedastals without even having any knowledge or interest in the subject and without consequence.

I don't really fall on either side of this - creators can create what they want, customers can buy what they want. I do find it really odd people being actively angry though, they've got to have something better to do. I can't even summon the energy to thumb down a video I don't like, let alone rally around it. Devs I like make games I don't like all the time, I just don't play it. I dunno, seems a bit strange. The announcement could've been handled a heck of a lot better though, it was very short-sighted from Blizzard when it knows how rabid its core fanbase is.

Angry might be going a little far, there will always be other games to play, other ways you can spend your free time, but disappointed and frustrated that a franchise you love is being destroyed by greedy publishers who then went on to show their fan base an enourmous level of disrespect…..choosing to vent those frustrations and refuse to reward them for a very tone def decision? I'm with them 100% on that, I was there for Diablo 1, it made Blizzard, they shouldn't treat it like crap.

I think the saddest part is that most of all this "hate" comes from a place of love. People would love to see Diablo 4 and support Blizzard, what they got was a whole lot tease and then a bitch slap to the face. Of course their acting out a little bit, they're hurt. If the worse they do is down vote a video and sign a petition I think they're doing just fine.

I just don't think this has any impact whatsoever on Diablo 4 happening. It's in development, we all know it. It's when, not if. My impression is this has been largely farmed out to NetEase? I think a simple logo tease after the Diablo immortal announcement would have wiped all this away, but it's kinda obvious anyway isn't it? I agree though, tone-deaf is probably the right way to put it. Selling tickets to this event and then announcing that, etc. The people who paid to be there cerrainly have more justification to be angry.

Some of my favourite franchises have also had mobile games and it hasn't affected them one bit, including Hitman, Tomb Raider, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, GTA, Total War, Monster Hunter, FIFA, etc. It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, I don't think they've been disrespected.

That's the thing….. it's not obvious that they're working on Diablo 4 right now….. if they haven't announced it, then all we'd really have to go off of is rumors and speculation…. Alot of people think if Diablo 4 was in the near future, it would have been announced pretty much exactly as you said, as a teaser after the reveal of the mobile game…. I think it leaves it open to pretty reasonable speculation that we're not getting anything on PC anytime soon.

It's not the existence of the mobile game that is the source of disappointment, it's more that they pulled a bait and switch, they openly demonstrated that they don't care what their fan base wants and are only worried about pleasing investors…. so why would we have any reason to believe they're currently working on what we actually want when they've given us no reason to believe so and have shattered any trust we might have had in them?

They teased Diablo so coyly, and they had to know it was going to get everyone thinking Diablo 4. Then they try and present a cash grab reskin of a game at Blizzcon, to people who payed $50 and traveled cross country to see a Diablo 4 reveal. It was bait & switch at it's worst. It was handled poorly and it continues to be handled poorly.

No one is pissed that they're getting mobile Diablo, they're pissed at how it was handled and that they didn't even get a hint at what they wanted. Bethesda got away with Fallout Shelter because they also announced Fallout 4. The list goes on from there. Not to mention the whole "do you not have phones" reeked of "you think you do, but you don't". Arrogant sh*ts.

Diablo 3 is still their biggest launch ever, Diablo 4 is practically set in stone. We've seen they've been hiring for it for years now. I can only guess that it's still a loooong way out though, so perhaps a teaser trailer is still too early. Blizzard tends to announced its games a good 18 months -2 years before they're out though, so we could have a wait on our hands

But yeah, Immortal will probably suck, phone or no phone, I doubt it's of interest to core Blizzard fans.
