Why you paired a 1080 with an i5 6600k?

That's what he could afford at the time and for the most part it's a decent CPU for the config.

when i bought my pc it was paired with gtx 960 4gb then i got 1080 bec i had the money tho i best waited month or two for it to drop from 750$ to 500$ as i bought it like a weak before Ti one came out but if i ever have to upgrade but only one thing i would again go with better gpu as it gives more perfomance in games which is the only thing i am targeting

The thing about upgrading only gpu is wrong, now many games are getting more cpu bound, and you see that on bf5 you have low usage of your super gpu, cause the cpu that you don't care about is bottlenecking it. You shall be getting way past the 80's wall with your gpu, but you get below 50 sometimes. Think about that.

The decision to upgrade the GPU first is a sound one. Most games are GPU bound not CPU bound. Also the 6600K is a decent CPU.

He said that if he could ugrade now he would still go for gpu. Wrong choice, that cpu even though is decent is weak for most demanding games and huge bottleneck for gtx 1080. He could at least overcloxk it to 4.3/4.4ghz

Luzzo97 but look at this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEyVcyadtNo
it bottleneck the gpu but is still better option as gpu will pull the game on the other side there this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWRtrc98-Bg
so idk anymore

I'm saying that your first decision was right, as gpu matters more than gpu in games, but your second sentece is wrong imo, cause unbalancing the two will result in bottleneck. With an i7 you woukd reach way higher framerate, just lookup on youtube your gpu with an i7 on the same game

Just a heads up, I've read on forums that even the i7 7700K bottlenecks the 1080 Ti. If you ever plan on upgrading your GFPU you might consider OC it or getting something more multi-threaded.

I'd just step away from Ddr3 as that is another one of bottlenecks in your system and yes multithreading is more than necessary in gaming nowadays. If i turn my 8700K to 4 core it hits 100% load almost 90% of the time and starts to stutter like hell and i get a lot lower framerates, especially 1% and 0.1% lows (avg down from 120 to 70 at worst cases and 1% lows down from 80 to 40 and 0.1% slows down to 20's which causes stutter)

agree with madman. even though 4 (hyperhreaded) cores from 6/7th gen are gonna be just fine since they clock really high and overclock well, more cores are future proof, you'll notice it!

also the more you stress the cpu, the more ram speed matters, so give ddr4 3000 a shot :)

Did not even remember that he had Ddr3 1600Mhz vs Ddr4. That's the another thing where he loses performance

CPU is a hard bottleneck, at least in multiplayer. My CPU is at 65-70% usage on average while playing this

Capped fps or vsync? Seems a bit low. https://static.techspot.com/articles-info/1746/bench/1080p.png

Thats crazy, i know i only play Siege uncapped cuz its better for competitive gaming and even in that i hit about 60% i think max. I get 73fps (my capped framerate) in BF1 and BFV no problem.

Because you can get more up to date frames to the monitor and lessens the input lag on M&K

Yea for me 40fps and below gives me a massive headache. I cap my fps for freesync but in competitive games frametimes are more important so i uncap and deal with the screen tearing. Anything above 40fps gets smoother and smoother provided the game is optimized.

I don't regret my rig one bit, i do however regret getting a 1st gen ryzen haha. It did end up paying off and getting me a free x470 board so i guess thats not too bad, got a deal on my 2700x and a sick deal on release day for my v64 so guess it was alright.

I was tempted too to get a 2nd gen ryzen especially due to infinity fabric latency reducing and higher clock speeds but my 6 cores overclocked can keep up until ryzen 3 goes out, then gonna switch to the 4ghz ryzen 5 3600X
