Epic Store started WW3 ?
Written by: tsalito - 11:28 Apr-04-2019

Well, hello fellow gamers all around the world. Its time to pick sides, are you a proper Steam gamer, or an Epic Store heathen.

Before we sacrifise you to lord Gaben almighty, let us just examine exactly what the fuck is going on. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last couple months, im sure you are pretty aware of the whole Epic store vs Steam beef going on. So basically the developers of.... umm.... Fortnite (Lord Gaben crush them all) also created their very own digital store, with their very own exclusives and free games. It all sounded very nice in theory, but then a sea of gamers boycotted the platform for no apparent reason. Yes I love steam my self, yes I havent yet purchased a single game in Epic Store, yes I have removed Epic from my start up programs, but still I dont see a reason for all this hate.

It all started when Metro: Exodus was announced as an Epic Game Store timed exclusive. 4A Games made a pretty bold move which sparked alot of controversy, that filled the internet with memes, angry bloggers and youtubers. Soon the steam page of Metro filled with positive reviews flaming Epic Games' store. A desperate developer of Metro: Exodus, having seen all this drama, claimed that If Metro doesnt perform well beacause of this whole Epic backlash, then the next Metro game might not come to the holy PC and  might be a console exclusive. Still Deep Silver apologized and said that it was nothing but an individual being desperate about seeing so much hate towards his work.

Still, Metro did just fine, even surpassing its predecessors in sales, making me think that maybe just maybe those people that spewed so much poison towards it have actually bought the game. Borderlands 3 might just be another example. coming exclusively to Epic Store at September 13th, truth be told im not really looking forward to it, I'd say im more in love with Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Doom: Eternal, so I am pretty sure im just gonna sit out and watch the bitching and Whinning while im eating some pop corn.

One thing im really looking forward to though is actually Detroit:Become Human, Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain coming to Pc exclusively through Epic Game store. Im also pretty curious to see what kind of ports are they gonna be, and if they will offer a different experience for PC gamers.

To summarize, yes Epic Store is not that exciting, its interface needs some work, the games and prices arent that yummy in comparison to steam, but its a new platform that is gonna get better with time. I honestly cant finds a reason to complain about its existence. Its a free market, besides some times competition can be beneficial for the consumer. So lets just all sit back and watch the Drama unravel.

But people are saying (also putting forward good evidence) that the Epic Games Store is stealing data that has nothing to do with games even! GD'er xquatrox (Whatever the hell his name is) has brought forward some damning evidence (?) as well.

to answer your question/the first line. I hate both.

Otherwise, I want competition for sure, but what i really want is DRM free, account free physical games back… 32gb micro-sd cards cost 2-3$ to produce… so yeah 64GB are 6-7$ to produce…

and if developers stop being stubborn and use 95-99% lossless compression for the textures, game sizes would be cut in half. There was even a tool for that reduced size of all uncompressed games by up to 70% best-case scenario with 99% quality…

games delivered via microSD?Sounds like a good idea. Where I live we are plagued with data bandwith caps.

Ahh… that is horrible… home internet and bandwidth limitation/caps should be illegal… :/
