Need help with a new System
Written by: SARTHAK07 - 10:57 Jul-10-2019

I am planning on buying a new Ryzen 3000+Navi system.

Basic specs are gonna include:-
Ryzen 3600
RX 5700 XT

I need help in selecting a good B450 Mobo, 2x8GB Ram , PSY and a 1440p/144Hz or 1080p/144Hz monitor.

Currently I am eyeing
https://mdcomputers.in/msi-b450m-pro-m2-v2.html
https://mdcomputers.in/msi-b450m-pro-vdh-plus.html
https://mdcomputers.in/msi-b450m-gaming-plus.html

I don't know how these three differ.

What wattage PSU would be good enough the rig?

I am from India so I would love it if u suggest products directly from Amazon.in/mdcomputers.in

Thanks.

For PSU's there is no other brand that i can recommend other than Seasonic. S12ii 620w should server you plenty and is 7,1K. For monitor 1080p 144Hz is a better choice AOC c24g1 is a good budget option at 20,5K. Mobo depends on what BIOS

you are used to. I think most people go with b450 MSI tomahawk or Asrock b450m for micro ATX. But again it depends on what BIOS you are used to dealing with.

I can buy Asus ROG Strix Gaming RX VEGA 56 OC 8GB at only 23K.
ASUS RX VEGA 64 8GB HBM2 ROG STRIX GAMING OC EDITION at 27k.

RX 5700 costs me 32K and RX 5700XT costs me 36.7K.
If I save some money on GPU, I could got for a 1440p 144 Hz display rather than 1080p 144Hz.
Do you guys think its worth getting 5700XT?

I know, i saw that too. Unfortunately, I have 520 Watts only and I can't have 64 one for sure and 56 is risky buy. I think ofcourse Vega is a good deal, a great one at that price point, but I will suggest 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60Hz, since anyways it's not gonna squeeze that much out of 1440p if you want it future proof. It's also limited offer anyways, so good luck.

Well I play Dota and would probably start CSGO soon. Those game can run pretty fast on 1440p.
1080p 144Hz makes more sense to me for now with a 5700XT.

Make sure you pick your motherboard, and them match the ram according to the motherboards compatible ram list.

I am planning to get 8x2 3200 Mhz CL16 for now. Most non X570 mobos support that only in OC mode.
And X570 mobos cost atleast 2.5 times the one I am planning to get.

don't get micro-ATX board, get a regular size ATX board, like an Asrock B450 Pro4, MSI Pro A4, GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE
Get a 600W EVGA or Cooler Master PSU, they are good and have a good price. They should have at least 40 amps on the +12V rail.

For RAM get up to 3200Mhz as it's natively supported by the Ryzen 5 3600, above that you have to use XMP profiles or do it manually and it's a hit an miss.
Kingston FuryX is good, Corsair Vengence, Adata XPG, G.Skill, GeiL.

For monitor: Acer Nitro XV272Pbmiiprzx -> 1080p IPS, 144Hz, DVI, HDMi, Display port, Speakers ->

Because you get it once, you have all the features.
And the pro4 even has 2x M.2 slots, one PCI-E, one Sata.
And it has better cooling on the VRMs and usually a bit better VRMs too.

All the features you mentioned barely would get used. I'm always wondering it would look nice if my PC Case was bit smaller. ATX ones are too big.

I think 1x M.2 slot would be enough for me.
Until the VRM situation is too good on any other motherboard in similar price range, I doubt I have any use of those other features.
I just need compatibility for 1 2 TB SSD and 1 NVME SSD.

Well better VRMs or/and better VRM cooling is always good, not saying it's like that with all Micro-ATX and ATX boards, but most of the time at least the VRMs get cooling.

The rest sure, it's up to what you will use, I just always find that having something and not needing it is better than not having the thing and needing it. You never know what you might want or need in the future.

And the price difference isn't big either(10-15$, tops 20$), unless your case supports only up to micro-ATX boards, then sure.

if you're getting 3000 series AMD cpu, then preferably get matching mobo for them;
if you'd still choose from those 3 mobos, I'd go with Msi B450M Pro-VDH Plus, as it offers 4 RAM slots which you might populate later with another 2x8GB ram :)
about PSU, definitely go for some 80+Bronze rated (or better spec), and you should primarily keep an eye on max. amperage it can deliver - wattage is kinda useless info; some 650-750W model matching those needs is reasonable;
monitor will be expensive if you go for some nice model which meets this: IPS, 1440p, 27"+ size, 144/165Hz

The 80+ Bronze rating is pointless, unless your electricity costs a lot and you care about your electricity bill. It's simply the efficiency of the AC to DC current converter.
Not a quality indicator.

For example the Corsair PSUs aren't very good as they don't make their own designs, they copy or license them and just stick a high-end transformer/converter as they know people buy it based on that.
I think their VS series were notorious for burning, dying and taking PC compontents with them.

I will probably go with a 1080p 144Hz monitor unless I am able to squeeze out my budget a bit more.
X570 Mobos are too expesive here. They start at 2.5 times the price of these mobos I mentioned and I don't need pcie 4.0 at all.

I guess since you already buying from scratch, wait for 3000 series chipsets which also includes Pcie 4.0 . Get a good 650/650+ W PSU with 80+ Plus rating. There are lot of factors when deciding PSU . Like 12V+ rails Amps. AMD's offcial website recommends 600W for 5700XT and 5700 both.

X570 motherboards here start at 15k whereas the one I am planning to buy is 6k. Too much price difference there. I don't play on upgrading the CPU without the MOBO either. My next upgrade will be probably after AMD jumps from AM4. I have absolutely zero use of pcie 4.0 either. I am planning to get a 600W/650W 80+ Bronze PSU atleast.

I don't really know about the motherboard it all seems the same to me but do get a 650W(they cost around 5k inr on Amazon) psu and a high frequency RAM, Ryzen CPUs love them. A 3000 MHz 8 GB RAM costs 3.2k. I'd like to know the budget for the monitor so that I can assist you better.

My budget for Monitor is 20-25k INR.
I saw some people discussing that I shouldn't get CL16 ram and only CL14 for Ryzen CPUs. Any idea about that?

Any 3200 MHz CL16 kit is fine. The difference is negligible and is not worth the cost difference. As far as the monitor is concerned, I don't think you can get a 1440p 144 Hz monitor for 25k but you can get a 1080p 144hz monitor with freesync. There are some good Acer monitors which cost around 20k, do check it out.
