365 D.o.G.-Day 57: Moonbase Alpha
Written by: OSUBoarder - 02:29 Feb-27-2013

Today’s game is a third party that you can find on Steam that lets you explore the depths of a moon base and fix your systems before you run out of time. That is pretty much all of the background information you need about this game. Oh, and it was funded by NASA…

Moon Base Alpha

This game was, or more accurately simulation, puts you in the boots of an astronaut on a lunar station. In the short game you witness a catastrophic event that almost wipes out the station and the crew. Your goal is to now use your limited resources and the teamwork of your friends to fix all of the lines and equipment that is falling apart. The game is actually heavily based on teamwork because the game is actually extremely difficult to complete by yourself. Different pieces of equipment will fail at different times and must be taken care of in a quick manner. However at your disposal are all manners of tools and remote controlled robots which are a lot of fun. The basic goal of the game seems rather simple at first but believe me, it becomes a bit of a challenge to keep up with everything that is going on. If you fall behind even a little bit, things start to fall apart rather quickly.

Graphics

Though the challenge of the game is somewhat fun, the real stunning part of this game is the look of it. This concept title was developed on the Unreal Engine 3 and it looks absolutely amazing. The game has a very realistic look that immerses you in the world it has created. I cannot really explain the look without showing you so I will post the picture right below here.

Final Thoughts

I’m not going to say that this ‘game’ was good or bad because really I just enjoyed bouncing around on the moon and feeling like I was actually there. The challenge was ok but not really a great without having other people to play against. The best part of the game I guess was just its novelty because I mean, how many games let you bounce around the moon and play astronaut? So my recommendation is to check it out if you find it interesting but you will not really miss much if you do not wish to play it. You can find out more about this game here.
