Bottlenecking
Written by: tanmay190 - 04:40 Apr-17-2013

hello guys ,

today i am gonna tell you what does this bottlenecking means although it is my version how much i understood about the bottlenecking is listed below

first of all the definition of bottleneck??????

What is BOTTLENECKING....

Bottlenecking is a very bad thing in which u get a lowere performance due to one of your components

In simple words one slow component can make ur computer slow even though u have very powerful other component..

TYPES OF BOTTLENECKING....

so to tell there are many types of bottlenecking but bascially here i am gonna focus on the bottlenecking caused due to the CPU & ur GFX

but apart from that even RAM can bottle neck your system

so lets get started about the CPU-GFX bottlenecking

what is this cpu-gfx bottlenecking

as we know that constructing a bottleneck free system is not possible

so lets discuss about what an system with free bottlenecking would be about

A SYSTEM W/O bottlenecking

Efficient use of CPU & GFX simultaneously that means 100% use of CPU as well as 100% use of GFX which means no hardware holds  back the system so this is the most efficient system for gaming.

coming to reality as such a system cannot be existing as people

so when building a system having least bottleneck is our main target here

this above image shows us about the bottleneck done by GPU to the system as the cpu remains idle of end of each cycle whereas gpu needs more time making the system slow

also this thing follow other way around

like a GTX titan paired with an pentium processor where the the GFX will be idle most of the time & the CPU will be working very very hard

so nw we know what as CPU-GFX bottlenecking

i tried to tell what i know hope this helps

Good article. But How does ram bottle-neck the other components?

hello man
i am working on the RAM bottleneck as far as i know games need a lots of RAM so if u have an GTX660TI with 2 gb of VRAM & an core i5 or i7 like 3770k
so by these things u can play games at max right bt if u only got 4 gb of RAM then games at ultra graphics wont work properly as they shld right cos they need more memory

The biggest time RAM is a bottleneck is when you run out and it has to revert to the hard disk to store temporary info which is much slower.

Very informative answers. Thank you friends. :-)

there are 2 types:
ram speed bottleneck and ram capacity bottleneck;
the first one means ram doesn't process the data fast enough (happens very rarely because ram is still multiple-faster than hdds:)
second is when game needs to use more ram, but there is no available, so it uses hdd swap (pagefile.sys) to put used data on :Đ
