Our challenge is in choosing the right priced PC items to get together an optimum build, which can meet the needs of Edge of Nowhere. We will therefore be aiming to run this game confidently each time with ultra graphics settings, getting its visuals from a 1080p resolution monitor screen. We visit this page every day to check on the prices and selected components we have added for this PC build. Naturally as new better hardware is found we will be adding and swapping to optimise this list with a view to giving us all a good jumping off point regarding expected build quality and pricing levels for our new Edge of Nowhere build.

If we are building a PC for a specific game then various game characteristics can be considered to help us put together the right computer. When considering Edge of Nowhere we can see that it is in the , Action, Adventure genre categories. This can influence some of the peripheral selections we make, as we will be wanting to make sure that the components we choose are complementary to the games needs. Something often overlooked is that we know the game itself would be developed during and shortly before 2016. Therefore we can speculate that it would have been built by the developers with hardware that has similar performance capability from that period as well. This title is currently one of the more demanding titles on the site right now, sitting at 1 on our most demanding list of games. With those thoughts helping us select specific hardware to match this title we will now select the best priced hardware today to meet these requirements from our curated gaming hardware lists.

Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p Edge of Nowhere PC Build

Our key objective when putting together our next gaming PC is always going to be finding a great price point for the most performance we can. Today’s build we start by looking for the right graphics card, at the right price, that can run Edge of Nowhere at 1080p ultra graphics. Looking through todays available cards and comparing their hardware performance has lead us to cherry pick the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB today for this game. It is capable of returning strong frame rates at our desired ultra 1080p. For reference, our lowest tracked price for this graphics card was on 28th Dec 2019 and it was priced at $159. Todays price is $164.99 which is why we have identified it as a competitive performance to price ratio compared to other hardware in the marketplace today. Over the past couple of weeks this card has seen a price drop of $14.01, which lends us confidence in picking it as a good purchase for this game.

We were looking to get a video card with at least 4GB of VRAM available onboard it, which acts an image data buffer between our video card and CPU. The Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB has 8GB, which is suitable at this resolution.

Selecting The Right Edge of Nowhere 1080p Motherboard and CPU

To accompany the graphics option we have put a compatible motherboard into the build. The ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 motherboard in turn enables us to add the Core i3-9100F 4-Core 3.6GHz processor that has the LGA 1151 socket. This CPU is a great fit for Edge of Nowhere and balances nicely with the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB, to help reach the right frame rates at this resolution. We have of course chosen this CPU today because of its price to performance credentials where it is currently priced at $157.5. A good reference point is, a low price for this processor was spotted on 27th May 2020 where we saw it for $59.

With a price tag today of $72.99, the ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 motherboard is certainly in good company, representing a feature rich, cost effective mobo for the Edge of Nowhere PC. A low recorded price for this motherboard was spotted on 4th Apr 2020 where it was $59.99.

How To Choose The Best RAM For Edge of Nowhere At The Right Price

To make sure we meet the Edge of Nowhere system requirements and to help us achieve the required FPS for Ultra at 1080p we have chosen the Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz, which is todays best priced system memory. It is priced at $42.99 and compliments the CPU and GPU nicely. Lowest RAM prices were recorded for this Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz when we saw it priced at $30.35, on 29th Nov 2019.

PC Performance Review at 1080p Ultra Settings on Edge of Nowhere

Running a PC build with these hardware components for Edge of Nowhere we expect to see about a 89 FPS average, with a few low frame rates in some of the more intense scenes. You could up the quality of game graphics to Ultra, which will see the FPS drop to 64 at 1080p.

Other Popular Game 1080p Ultra Custom PC Builds

We expect Edge of Nowhere would also run in higher screen resolutions but this would be 48 FPS average, at 1440p Ultra. We would see an improvement of frame rates if we tweaked the 1440p graphics options to be around the High preset graphics option, which would then return 68 FPS.

How this build performs for other popular games

Obviously we will want to run other games on our new Edge of Nowhere PC so lets explore some anticipated frame rates of some other popular games today with this hardware at 1080p. FIFA 22 should get 64 when run on Ultra and this raises to 89 FPS on High. The popular Days Gone gets a return of 64 FPS on Ultra and then up to 89 FPS when settings are dropped to High. Then there is Star Citizen, which is popular at the moment, which is returning 64 FPS run at Ultra and 89 frames on High.

An Alternative Edge of Nowhere Graphics Card Option for 1080p

Not everyone is a fan of team AMD, so if you are after a GPU from the other side then perhaps take a look at our suggested Nvidia card, the GeForce GTX 1660 Asus Phoenix 6GB. It is placed at 4% better performance difference and certainly capable of delivering up Edge of Nowhere frames on a par with our primary GPU selection. We have also selected it based on its price today, which finds it at $219.99.
