This title falls in the Strategy, Management, Turn-based genre category, which itself can influence the type of hardware we might consider for this build. Something we sometimes dont consider is that the game would be developed in 2021 and therefore on hardware from around that period of time. We can also assume that hardware from around that period would be part of the targeted hardware, in terms of performance, by the developers, as they provide graphical options for the hardware capabilities available. It is currently not on our list of most demanding games. Also it is falling outside of our most popular games list at the moment. With this info in hand to help guide our hardware build choices we will now select today’s best priced components that meet these game characteristics.

Choosing the graphics card needs to be done correctly and as we are putting together a gamer PC build for Total War: Warhammer 3 at 1080p ultra graphics we want something with the best price today while returning the best performance for that price. This has led us to the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB, which has a good price at the moment, as its currently priced at $239.99. Out of interest our lowest price tracked on this graphics card was on 28th Nov 2019 where we saw it for $229.99. And with that in mind the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB is a great match for Total War: Warhammer 3 at 1080p ultra. It will certainly help us get good FPS. we will highlight those FPS in more detail later in this article. We have seen this card drop its price recently by $47.68 which is part of the reason it has been slotted in to this build.
To fit with the above graphics card we have chosen a well priced motherboard, the Asus Prime B450M mATX AM4, that will allow us to slot in a compatible Ryzen 5 2600 processor based around the shared Socket AM4 socket. With the chosen cpu and gpu working together we will get a great Total War: Warhammer 3 experience, that helps achieve steady frames at this resolution. The chosen cpu has itself been selected because it represents a good fit with the game and the price we found it at when comparing today’s cpu market prices, finding it currently priced at $191.95. Looking through our price records we noticed that this processor was seen on 7th Jul 2020 priced at $59.9.
Looking at motherboard prices and features the competitively priced $77.99 Asus Prime B450M mATX AM4 certainly takes a well-deserved place in our build. Bottom motherboard prices recorded for this mobo was when we saw it at $49.99, on 28th Nov 2019.
Our Total War: Warhammer 3 built PC needs some solid performing RAM to enable us to meet the game’s system requirement expectations and achieve the desired FPS at ultra 1080p. The Silicon Power 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 RAM 2666MHz is capable of meeting those needs, while complementing the Ryzen 5 2600 and GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB of our build and priced at a reasonable $52.99. A low price point for this Silicon Power 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 RAM 2666MHz was spotted on 7th Aug 2020, where we saw it at $50.
Running a PC build with these hardware components for Total War: Warhammer 3 we expect to see about a 88 FPS average, with a few low frame rates in some of the more intense scenes. You could up the quality of game graphics to Ultra, which will see the FPS drop to 63 at 1080p.
With the larger screen resolutions always being of interest and something to consider, let’s take a look at how this build could perform. Running a 1440p Total War: Warhammer 3 we would expect 67 FPS at High and a drop to 48 when run at 1440p Ultra.
Obviously we will want to run other games on our new Total War: Warhammer 3 PC so lets explore some anticipated frame rates of some other popular games today with this hardware at 1080p. Resident Evil 8 should get 48 when run on Ultra and this raises to 67 FPS on High. The popular Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time gets a return of 71 FPS on Ultra and then up to 99 FPS when settings are dropped to High. Then there is Total War: Rome Remastered, which is popular at the moment, which is returning 200+ FPS run at Ultra and 200+ frames on High.
Finding a mouse for a game that falls into the Strategy, Management, Turn-based genre group has given us reason to improve the quality of mouse we are willing to put into this PC build. We have therefore found the Cooler Master MM710 mouse that is today’s best priced, higher performing gamer mouse, and one that can still deliver the gaming quality we are after for Total War: Warhammer 3.
If you are looking for a graphics card from AMD instead of the one we have selected in this build then you could try Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB, which has a 7% better performance difference, so still similar capabilities. We have chosen it based on its price-performance figure as well, as it is currently priced at $899.98.
