If you are looking to build and buy your next PC to run Death Stranding then this list of custom curated components will give you a great jumping off point for your next gaming PC selection. We will therefore be aiming to run this game confidently each time with ultra settings selected, delivered via a 1440p screen resolution. As new gaming components are released for PC we will continue to review prices here each day and consider swapping in and out better components.
If we are building a PC for a specific game then various game characteristics can be considered to help us put together the right computer. When considering Death Stranding we can see that it is in the Adventure genre categories. This can influence some of the peripheral selections we make, as we will be wanting to make sure that the components we choose are complementary to the games needs. Something often overlooked is that we know the game itself would be developed during and shortly before 2020. Therefore we can speculate that it would have been built by the developers with hardware that has similar performance capability from that period as well. This title is currently not featuring on our list of most demanding games. With those thoughts helping us select specific hardware to match this title we will now select the best priced hardware today to meet these requirements from our curated gaming hardware lists.

Not wanting to pay over the odds for hardware we dont actually need, is a gamers primary objective when building their next PC. But obviously in this specific PC build we want to ensure enough we choose something with enough performance capability to run Death Stranding at 1440p ultra graphics options. We have taken a look at a whole bunch of graphics card prices today and compared them to the hardware’s gaming performance and our choice for this game is the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme 8GB. We will get into its expected FPS for this game a bit later in the article, but for now we know it will deliver reliable frame rates at ultra 1440p. Checking our records our lowest tracked price for this card was on 22nd Dec 2019, which had it priced at $426.41. Todays price is $435.61 which is why we have identified it as a competitive performance to price ratio compared to other hardware in the marketplace today. Over the past couple of weeks this card has seen a price drop of $159.23, which lends us confidence in picking it as a good purchase for this game.
We were looking to get a video card with at least 6GB of VRAM available onboard it, which acts an image data buffer between our video card and CPU. The GeForce RTX 2070 Super Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme 8GB has 8GB, which is suitable at this resolution.
MSI B360M PRO-VD Intel mATX LAG1151 motherboard is today’s best buy mobo, that also provides us with the LGA 1151 cpu socket type. Which is ideal for the best performance to price processor we have seen for our build, the Core i5-9400F 6-Core 2.9GHz. This processor is currently priced at a competitive $147.25 and really works well with the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme 8GB. A good point of reference is that the bottom recorded price we have for the Core i5-9400F 6-Core 2.9GHz is $119.99 on 16th Mar 2020.
The awesome MSI B360M PRO-VD Intel mATX LAG1151 is highly competitive, priced at $49.46, which provides it a position today in this gamer build. A low price point for this motherboard would be $32.99, which we recorded it at on 28th Dec 2019.
This is part of the gamers 3 core hardware components. Our Death Stranding built PC will need a correct amount of RAM while being found for the best price today. We have found the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz to be well priced at $32.99 and will complement the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme 8GB and Core i5-9400F 6-Core 2.9GHz selections of our build, helping us to achieve the desired FPS at 1440p ultra settings. The cheapest system memory price for Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz was recorded as $29.49, and this was on 2nd Feb 2020.
So now that our core components are all in place we would expect to see around 77 FPS in Death Stranding at 1440p resolution, on Ultra settings. Make some adjustments to the graphics options and you could boost this up to 108 FPS for High graphics settings.
With the larger screen resolutions always being of interest and something to consider, let’s take a look at how this build could perform. Running a 4k Death Stranding we would expect 71 FPS at High and a drop to 50 when run at 4k Ultra.
We should check some other games performance with our Death Stranding PC. Looking at some other popular games today, to see how the GeForce RTX 2070 Super Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme 8GB and this setup will run on 1440p. Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to return 48 FPS when run on Ultra which increases to around 67 frames per second on High. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War would return 74 FPS on Ultra and then go up to 103 FPS at High settings. With Hitman 3 we expect 50 FPS running at Ultra settings and 70 frames on High settings.
Not everyone is a fan of team Nvidia, so if you are after a GPU from the other side then perhaps take a look at our suggested AMD card, the Radeon RX 5700 XT MSI Evoke OC 8GB. It is placed at 5% worse performance difference and certainly capable of delivering up Death Stranding frames on a par with our primary GPU selection. We have also selected it based on its price today, which finds it at $397.99.
