Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p Dakar 18 PC Build

Not wanting to pay over the odds for hardware we dont actually need, is a gamers primary objective when building their next PC. But obviously in this specific PC build we want to ensure enough we choose something with enough performance capability to run Dakar 18 at 1080p ultra graphics options. We have taken a look at a whole bunch of graphics card prices today and compared them to the hardware’s gaming performance and our choice for this game is the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB. We will get into its expected FPS for this game a bit later in the article, but for now we know it will deliver reliable frame rates at ultra 1080p. For reference, our lowest tracked price for this graphics card was on 28th Nov 2019 and it was priced at $229.99. Todays price is $239.99 which is why we have identified it as a competitive performance to price ratio compared to other hardware in the marketplace today. We have seen this card drop its price recently by $47.68 which is part of the reason it has been slotted in to this build.

Our PC build has 6GB of onboard card memory to act as an image data store between the GPU and CPU. At this resolution the game will need at least 4GB of VRAM from our PC build. So with the selected GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB we have met that graphical requirement.

Selecting The Right Dakar 18 1080p Motherboard and CPU

We have selected a GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 motherboard to allow us to then go on and add a great cpu for this Dakar 18 build. With a Socket AM4 socket type motherboard we choose the well priced Ryzen 5 2600, which is at the best price to performance for processors in this range at the moment. Currently priced at a competitive $140.09 this cpu is a good performance addition for our build. Bottom prices recorded for this CPU was when we saw it at $59.9, which we noticed it on 7th Jul 2020.

At $53.99 the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 motherboard muscles its feature rich chipboard into today’s Dakar 18 PC build. A low price point for this motherboard would be $53.99, which we recorded it at on 25th Jun 2020.

How To Choose The Best RAM For Dakar 18 At The Right Price

One of the more significant hardware components in this Dakar 18 build is the RAM. We are choosing some complementary and well priced Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz. It is currently priced at $32.99. While among the best priced system memory for this build it will still provide us with the ability to reach our desired FPS for the 1080p ultra setting, that we have been focusing on with this PC. The cheapest system memory price for Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz was recorded as $30.35, and this was on 29th Nov 2019.

An Alternative Dakar 18 Graphics Card Option for 1080p

Not everyone is a fan of team Nvidia, so if you are after a GPU from the other side then perhaps take a look at our suggested AMD card, the Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB. It is placed at 7% better performance difference and certainly capable of delivering up Dakar 18 frames on a par with our primary GPU selection. We have also selected it based on its price today, which finds it at $579.99.
