I want to buy a best priced gaming PC that can run Matter on Ultra. This is what we will be looking to explore and maintain in our review page here today. So we are finding the best priced peripherals and hardware for a new PC build that can run Matter Our mission is a top end gaming solution for this game at top end graphics settings, delivered via a 1440p screen resolution. We visit this page every day to check on the prices and selected components we have added for this PC build. Naturally as new better hardware is found we will be adding and swapping to optimise this list with a view to giving us all a good jumping off point regarding expected build quality and pricing levels for our new Matter build.

We will be looking across a range of things to help evaluate this best gamer build. We will be looking across the range of best value for money components based on today’s prices. Something that can influence our peripheral selection is that the game is found in the , Shooter, Online, RPG genres, and this can sometimes sway some of the requirements of hardware we choose. Something else to consider is that Matter would have been built on PC hardware from 2019 and shortly before this period. All interesting points for sure, but what we are really after is that we want to select components that best fit this game type but will also be today’s best value for money hardware of good enough quality to meet the game’s needs.

Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1440p Matter PC Build

Lets not pay over the odds when we put this game’s graphics card in. We want something that can play Matter at 1440p ultra graphics options and we want something that has a reasonable price compared to the other graphics options. The GeForce GTX 1660 Asus Phoenix 6GB has been looking like a good stand in for this games curated PC build, based on the price of $219.99 that we found it marked at today. It will certainly help return suitable FPS, which we will go into a bit later in the article, at ultra 1440p. For reference, the lowest price recorded by us so far for the GeForce GTX 1660 Asus Phoenix 6GB is $219.99 on 31st Jan 2020.

Matter needs 4GB of VRAM to suitably store adequate amounts of image data during transfer between video card and processor. Our GeForce GTX 1660 Asus Phoenix 6GB graphics card has 6GB which will be suitable for this resolution of gaming.

Selecting The Right Matter 1440p Motherboard and CPU

To fit with the above graphics card we have chosen a well priced motherboard, the ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151, that will allow us to slot in a compatible Core i5-9400F 6-Core 2.9GHz processor based around the shared LGA 1151 socket. With the chosen cpu and gpu working together we will get a great Matter experience, that helps achieve steady frames at this resolution. The chosen cpu has itself been selected because it represents a good fit with the game and the price we found it at when comparing today’s cpu market prices, finding it currently priced at $167.87. You can get this processor for $119.99, which we saw it at that price on 16th Mar 2020. This is the lowest we have seen it at while watching processor prices.

And with the motherboard costing $72.99 this really helps pull the PC we are building together. To help give some depth to the price points for this motherboard, the ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 was priced at $59.99 on 4th Apr 2020.

How To Choose The Best RAM For Matter At The Right Price

One of the more significant hardware components in this Matter build is the RAM. We are choosing some complementary and well priced Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz. It is currently priced at $42.99. While among the best priced system memory for this build it will still provide us with the ability to reach our desired FPS for the 1440p ultra setting, that we have been focusing on with this PC. To provide a RAM pricing benchmark the lowest recorded price we have for the Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz is $30.35 on 29th Nov 2019.

PC Performance Review at 1440p Ultra Settings on Matter

So now that our core components are all in place we would expect to see around 47 FPS in Matter at 1440p resolution, on Ultra settings. Make some adjustments to the graphics options and you could boost this up to 65 FPS for High graphics settings.

Other Popular Game 1440p Ultra Custom PC Builds

Upping the screen size to 4k for Matter using this build would return 39 frames per second on High settings. This would drop further to 28 when turning up to Ultra graphics.

How this build performs for other popular games

Obviously we will want to run other games on our new Matter PC so lets explore some anticipated frame rates of some other popular games today with this hardware at 1440p. Days Gone should get 47 when run on Ultra and this raises to 65 FPS on High. The popular Dying Light 2 gets a return of 47 FPS on Ultra and then up to 65 FPS when settings are dropped to High. Then there is Back 4 Blood, which is popular at the moment, which is returning 47 FPS run at Ultra and 65 frames on High.

Selecting A High Performance Mouse For Matter

In today’s build we have chosen a higher performing mouse to better match the needs of this type of game. The Cooler Master MM710 is the best priced gaming mouse that meets our requirements.

Matter Benefits From a High Quality Audio Headset

And now we move on to the PC’s audio selection, namely the gaming headset. We were looking to add a higher quality headset with this game’s PC build because it will help us enjoy the sort of game cues this type of game can offer. The headset that offers the best price today is the Logitech G635 7.1, delivering nice clear audio and a comfortable fitting at a good price. Check out the headset list above to see some alternative headsets available today for a good price.

An Alternative Matter Graphics Card Option for 1440p

While we have suggested a Nvidia graphics card for this build you can also consider putting in a AMD Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB, which is similar, with a 4% worse performance difference, but provides another reasonable alternative graphics option. It is currently priced at $164.99.
