Prices and hardware reviewed and updated: 28th Nov 2020

If you are wanting to buy a gaming computer to run SnowRunner then this PC build review is aimed at putting together the correct hardware components for the cheapest price today to do just that. And so our expectations are that this game will confidently run with max graphics running, viewed through a 1080p monitor resolution. We visit this page every day to check on the prices and selected components we have added for this PC build. Naturally as new better hardware is found we will be adding and swapping to optimise this list with a view to giving us all a good jumping off point regarding expected build quality and pricing levels for our new SnowRunner build.

First off, to help us pull together the best hardware for this build, we have to understand a little bit about the type of game we are creating this computer for. SnowRunner is a title which sits in the Sim genre categories, which may influence our peripheral selection a bit, to help accommodate some of the particular requirements there. This game would have also been built on PC hardware during 2020 and before, which can suggest the sort of specced components a developer might have been using and hoping for their game to run on. Today we find it is not currently in our top most demanding games list and currently not figuring in our more popular games. While this extra info gives a good sense of what we want from our PC, nothing really replaces our value for money assessment based on live prices, when putting together this build.

Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p SnowRunner PC Build

When putting this sort of PC together we want great value for money but a machine that can deliver solid FPS on SnowRunner at 1080p ultra graphics. We have selected the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB today as a well placed option. The price for this card today is $239.99 which really helped mark it as a good fit.Checking our records our lowest tracked price for this card was on 28th Nov 2019 which had it priced at $229.99. Watching this card over the past 2 weeks we have seen its price drop by $47.68, further supporting our selection in this hardware.

Our graphics card will need 4GB of VRAM built into it to act as a suitable buffer between our video card and chosen CPU. This graphics card has 6GB which will be plenty for this game at this resolution.

Selecting The Right SnowRunner 1080p Motherboard and CPU

To fit with the above graphics card we have chosen a well priced motherboard, the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4, that will allow us to slot in a compatible Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core 3.8GHz processor based around the shared Socket AM4 socket. With the chosen cpu and gpu working together we will get a great SnowRunner experience, that helps achieve steady frames at this resolution. The chosen cpu has itself been selected because it represents a good fit with the game and the price we found it at when comparing today’s cpu market prices, finding it currently priced at $277.44. The cheapest price we spotted this cpu for is $58, which was on 7th Jul 2020.

Chosen for price point, socket type and feature list, the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4 has a cost today of $53.99. Our motherboard price records put this mobo’s price on 25th Jun 2020 at $53.99.

How To Choose The Best RAM For SnowRunner At The Right Price
