Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p STRIDE PC Build

Our challenge is not overpaying for hardware we dont need, but making sure we get enough performance from our system that we can play STRIDE at 1080p ultra settings. Reviewing all the prices today our choice for best graphics card for this title points us squarely at the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB. It is capable of delivering suitable frame rates at ultra 1080p. Over the past couple of weeks this card has seen a price drop of $14.01, which lends us confidence in picking it as a good purchase for this game. Out of interest our lowest price tracked on this graphics card was on 28th Dec 2019 where we saw it for $159. With a price of $164.99 today its certainly very competitive, considering the performance this gpu can return.

Selecting The Right STRIDE 1080p Motherboard and CPU

To accompany the graphics option we have put a compatible motherboard into the build. The ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 motherboard in turn enables us to add the Core i3-9100F 4-Core 3.6GHz processor that has the LGA 1151 socket. This CPU is a great fit for STRIDE and balances nicely with the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB, to help reach the right frame rates at this resolution. We have of course chosen this CPU today because of its price to performance credentials where it is currently priced at $157.5. You can get this processor for $59, which we saw it at that price on 27th May 2020. This is the lowest we have seen it at while watching processor prices.

The ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 motherboard has a cost today of $72.99 that helps find it a place in today’s STRIDE build. To provide a motherboard pricing benchmark the lowest recorded price we have for the ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 is $59.99 on 4th Apr 2020.

How To Choose The Best RAM For STRIDE At The Right Price

One of the more significant hardware components in this STRIDE build is the RAM. We are choosing some complementary and well priced Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz. It is currently priced at $42.99. While among the best priced system memory for this build it will still provide us with the ability to reach our desired FPS for the 1080p ultra setting, that we have been focusing on with this PC. To provide a bit of system memory pricing insight, we spotted this Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz being sold for a low price of $30.35 on 29th Nov 2019.

PC Performance Review at 1080p Ultra Settings on STRIDE

Now on to the frame rates for our STRIDE running on Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB at 1080p. We should see an average of 89 FPS on High settings or you could push up the quality to Ultra, which would get us 64 FPS.

Other Popular Game 1080p Ultra Custom PC Builds

We expect STRIDE would also run in higher screen resolutions but this would be 48 FPS average, at 1440p Ultra. We would see an improvement of frame rates if we tweaked the 1440p graphics options to be around the High preset graphics option, which would then return 68 FPS.

How this build performs for other popular games

To get a more general understanding of how our PC build for STRIDE performs we can look in to how it copes with some of the more popular games of today at 1080p. To begin we see that Star Citizen is expected to achieve 64FPS on Ultra and 89FPS on High graphics settings. Next up looking at Back 4 Blood we would find 64FPS on Ultra raising to 89FPS at High. For our last comparison, Far Cry 6, we would likely achieve 64 FPS on Ultra and 89 FPS on High graphics settings.

An Alternative STRIDE Graphics Card Option for 1080p

If you are wanting a graphics choice from the other team then our suggestion would be the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Asus Phoenix 6GB video card, currently priced at $219.99. This option has a performance of 4% better when compared to the Radeon RX 580 XFX GTR XXX 8GB and completely capable of offering a good gpu alternative.
