Lets not pay over the odds when we put this game’s graphics card in. We want something that can play Diablo II Remake at 1080p ultra graphics options and we want something that has a reasonable price compared to the other graphics options. The GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB has been looking like a good stand in for this games curated PC build, based on the price of $239.99 that we found it marked at today. It will certainly help return suitable FPS, which we will go into a bit later in the article, at ultra 1080p. Checking our records our lowest tracked price for this card was on 28th Nov 2019 which had it priced at $229.99. We have seen this card drop its price recently by $47.68 which is part of the reason it has been slotted in to this build.
Our ideal build will need to come with either 6GB of VRAM or more than. This is used by the computer to store image data quickly as it passes image information from GPU to CPU. Our selected GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB comes with 6GB of VRAM which should cover image transfer for Diablo 2 Resurrected at this resolution.
To accompany the graphics option we have put a compatible motherboard into the build. The Asus Prime B450M mATX AM4 motherboard in turn enables us to add the Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core 3.6GHz processor that has the Socket AM4 socket. This CPU is a great fit for Diablo 2 Resurrected and balances nicely with the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB, to help reach the right frame rates at this resolution. We have of course chosen this CPU today because of its price to performance credentials where it is currently priced at $199.99. Looking through our price records we noticed that this processor was seen on 7th Jul 2020 priced at $56.98.
Looking at motherboard prices and features the competitively priced $67.99 Asus Prime B450M mATX AM4 certainly takes a well-deserved place in our build. Bottom motherboard prices recorded for this mobo was when we saw it at $49.99, on 28th Nov 2019.
To make sure we meet the Diablo 2 Resurrected system requirements and to help us achieve the required FPS for Ultra at 1080p we have chosen the Silicon Power 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 RAM 2666MHz, which is todays best priced system memory. It is priced at $52.99 and compliments the CPU and GPU nicely. A price point for this RAM was down to $50 on 7th Aug 2020.
We reckon these hardware components in our PC build will get 88 FPS at high settings in game and you could improve the graphics up to Ultra and see a FPS of 63 at 1080p.
With the larger screen resolutions always being of interest and something to consider, let’s take a look at how this build could perform. Running a 1440p Diablo II Remake we would expect 67 FPS at High and a drop to 48 when run at 1440p Ultra.
We should check some other games performance with our Diablo 2 Resurrected PC. Looking at some other popular games today, to see how the GeForce GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual Evo OC 6GB and this setup will run on 1080p. Star Citizen is expected to return 67 FPS when run on Ultra which increases to around 94 frames per second on High. It Takes Two would return 63 FPS on Ultra and then go up to 88 FPS at High settings. With Outriders we expect 48 FPS running at Ultra settings and 67 frames on High settings.
Perhaps you are after a AMD graphics card rather than the one we have added to this build. If so we would suggest the similar performing Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB, which has a 7% better performance variation, but is still a suitable video card choice for this game. We have also considered the best value for performance based on today’s prices, with it costing $899.98 at the moment.
