Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p Base One PC Build

We want a punchy GPU for this build and the GeForce RTX 2070 Asus Dual Advanced 8GB is currently priced at a competitive $379.99. For reference, our lowest tracked price for this graphics card was on 19th Dec 2019 and it was priced at $379.99.. This PC graphics hardware selection is a nice price to performance option when looking to run Base One at 1080p ultra graphics. We expect to see some good FPS from this card at these specs. Over the past couple of weeks this card has seen a price drop of $20, which lends us confidence in picking it as a good purchase for this game.

We also want the graphics card to have at least 6GB VRAM onboard. The video card in this build has 8 which will act as a good data buffer between the processor and the graphics hardware.

Selecting The Right Base One 1080p Motherboard and CPU

To fit with the above graphics card we have chosen a well priced motherboard, the ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151, that will allow us to slot in a compatible Core i5-9400F 6-Core 2.9GHz processor based around the shared LGA 1151 socket. With the chosen cpu and gpu working together we will get a great Base One experience, that helps achieve steady frames at this resolution. The chosen cpu has itself been selected because it represents a good fit with the game and the price we found it at when comparing today’s cpu market prices, finding it currently priced at $167.87. Bottom prices recorded for this CPU was when we saw it at $119.99, which we noticed it on 16th Mar 2020.

With the feature rich ASRock Intel B365 ATX LGA1151 priced competitively at $72.99 it is certainly in todays Base One build for a good reason. Bottom motherboard prices recorded for this mobo was when we saw it at $59.99, on 4th Apr 2020.

How To Choose The Best RAM For Base One At The Right Price

System Memory is a significant part of any gaming computer. The build today finds the Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz to be the best price to performance RAM solution for our Base One PC. At last reckoning we priced it up at $42.99, which is a cheap price for this amount of RAM. There are of course other options and configurations of system memory you might like to consider in your build. We looked through our records and saw that the RAM prices on 29th Nov 2019, represented a low price point $30.35. Which gives us an indication of how things sit today with the RAM price

PC Performance Review at 1080p Ultra Settings on Base One

This PC build has been optimized to deliver around 68 FPS at Ultra settings for Base One, while running on a 1080p screen size. While you might want to increase this to 95 FPS if you lower some of the graphics options inline with High graphics settings.

An Alternative Base One Graphics Card Option for 1080p

Perhaps you are after a AMD graphics card rather than the one we have added to this build. If so we would suggest the similar performing Radeon RX 5700 Sapphire 8GB, which has a 5% worse performance variation, but is still a suitable video card choice for this game. We have also considered the best value for performance based on today’s prices, with it costing $308.14 at the moment.
