Choosing A Graphics Card For Our 1080p The Ascent PC Build

Lets not pay over the odds when we put this game’s graphics card in. We want something that can play The Ascent at 1080p ultra graphics options and we want something that has a reasonable price compared to the other graphics options. The GeForce RTX 3090 has been looking like a good stand in for this games curated PC build, based on the price of $3146.99 that we found it marked at today. It will certainly help return suitable FPS, which we will go into a bit later in the article, at ultra 1080p.

Our PC build has 24GB of onboard card memory to act as an image data store between the GPU and CPU. At this resolution the game will need at least 8GB of VRAM from our PC build. So with the selected GeForce RTX 3090 we have met that graphical requirement.

Selecting The Right The Ascent 1080p Motherboard and CPU

The motherboard we are going for is the GIGABYTE GA-A320M mATX AM4. Its the best priced Socket AM4 socket type motherboard on the market today and will give us the spot to choose a great pairing CPU for the GeForce RTX 3090. Looking over the prices today we can see that the Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core 3.8GHz processor is a great choice for this game and is currently costing $479.99. The cheapest price we spotted this cpu for is $139, which was on 7th Jul 2020.

And with the motherboard costing $59.99 this really helps pull the PC we are building together. This motherboard was priced at $51.88, which we saw on 18th Feb 2021. While monitoring prices this is the lowest we have seen it at.

How To Choose The Best RAM For The Ascent At The Right Price

System Memory is a significant part of any gaming computer. The build today finds the Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz to be the best price to performance RAM solution for our The Ascent PC. At last reckoning we priced it up at $42.99, which is a cheap price for this amount of RAM. There are of course other options and configurations of system memory you might like to consider in your build. Lowest RAM prices were recorded for this Patriot Viper Steel Series 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz when we saw it priced at $30.35, on 29th Nov 2019.

PC Performance Review at 1080p Ultra Settings on The Ascent

An Alternative The Ascent Graphics Card Option for 1080p

While we have suggested a Nvidia graphics card for this build you can also consider putting in a AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB, which is similar, with a 8% worse performance difference, but provides another reasonable alternative graphics option. It is currently priced at $2199.99.
