The player takes on the role of one Daimyo – the clan leader – and will use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun – the undisputed ruler of Japan. Set during the golden age of Samurai warfare, Shogun 2 brings to life the most turbulent period of Japanese history.

Is it normal to have lag (ultra settings) when zoomed in during combat (-4k troops) and get 15-20 fps with my specs? Zoomed out it's 52-60+ but zooming in it's a slideshow. I thought I could pull it off easily, but seems like the CPU is bottlenecking it with only 1 core utilized (I checked with MSI AfterBurner). Any tips for improving performance?

My cousin with weaker CPU (Core 2 Duo and GT630) can run this game on Med/High settings. So you will have no problem :)

I know this game does not use more than 2 cores... And my Q9550 is struggling quite bad,
I'm on a budget so, does the PENTIUM K G3268 will manage with my GPU, with OC , CInebench R15 benchamrk did impress me... the Pentium had more score (350cb) than my Q9550 @ 3.2 (303cb)

Yep, even my CPU struggles when zoomed in with >2k troops, 15-20 fps slideshow. Zoomed out it's smooth 50-60 fps on ultra.. I checked using MSI AfterBurner and only 1st core is maxed, 2nd around 40% and other cores at low 20%. A fast Dual Core CPU would run this game OK.

You'll probably be able to get it on low settings, i'd try to avoid massive battles if I were you.

It could possibly get low/medium settings, your frames depends on the size of the battles so you'd get around 30FPS in small battles but probably around 10-15FPS in larger ones.
