No, Windows XP Supports up to DirectX level of 9, but Battlefield 3 requires at least DirectX 10.1 so You will need to upgrade to Windows Vista atleast but i HIGHLY recommend to get Windows 7 instead that supports up to DirectX 11.2

hd4650 @ 700/500 & e7600 @ 3.5ghz (downclocked oc)

Well, you have two potential problems: RAM and GPU. You can pick up a 4gb RAM stick for pretty cheap, and you can grab a GTX 750 for $100. With 4gb RAN and GTX 750 you could run 90+ fps on lowest 1024/768, and at your native you can get 50fps on medium.

Your problem is the RAM if you have Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows Vista because you can't play games like this with just 2gb of ram on this windows.

Well, I've played this game @30fps on 2gb before. But it differs from person to person on how much they need. As for me, I had only my video game open, but this guy may be running a server in the background :p...

The GT 240 is very weak so it could actually be his bottleneck.

Happy gaming!
P.S go for the smaller sized games, 2gb RAM is cutting it a little short for 64 player.
