nope, if you buy the steam version do not expect high fps at all, i mean 10 fps in normal scale battles, doesnt overly matter due to it being a strategy not an fps

Also be carefull with very large battle with the units 's scale, because as you can imagine, it is a lot more demanding.

should be able to but this game had poor multi core processing so most Pc's even £1000+ ones still lag with this game at times.

One does not simply max out a Total War games. You can play on HIGH settings, but not HIGHEST for Unit Details.

Had to disable multi CPU cores to make it not laggy.. this game doesnt run well on multi core CPU.

Yeah, it was very demanding back in its days, poor multicore CPU support ddn't help either.

Hmm, interesting! Do you have unit details on HIGHEST, not HIGH? Anti-aliasing on HIGH, all special effects checked? Unit scale on HUGE (4v4 battle = 16k soldiers)? I have not seen ONE single system that can run this 2004 game consistently above 30 FPS using those absolute max settings. It's simply impossible without a aboslute beast rig (which I haven't seen)

it is almost impossible a friend of mine has a i73750 k and a gtx 680 sli played with 16k units and he had an average of 28 fps it was fine before men were swordstabbing each other though

I'm curious to know what was everyone's favourite unit in this game? I loved using Armenian cataphract archers and early game Hastati.
