GD says that I can play nfsu on an 12 year old laptop on medium settings,but I can't,i can play it only on low settings on a 640x480 resolution at 20-25 fps

I Absolutely Love Nfs Underground..I really enjoyed it.

Since it's too old, it took me a while to make it work well on my PC. Strange as it may seem, old games are hard to play on current HW, because they were optimized for the HW of that time (at least this is what I suspect). I had to use the DVI-VGA adapter to make it run on full screen. Also, Fraps shows only 60 FPS...
