PC System Analysis For Oculus Rift Requirements
Oculus Rift will require Radeon R9 290 graphics card with a Core i5-4590 3.3GHz or FX-8350 processor to reach the recommended specs, achieving high graphics setting on 1080p. 8 GB will also be needed to achieve the Oculus Rift rec specs and get 60FPS. Oculus Rift needs a graphics card thats at least as powerful as a GeForce GTX 960 2GB/Radeon R9 380 paired with FX-4350/Core i3-6300 3.8GHz CPU to match the min specs. This PC setup will deliver 25-35 Frame Per Second at Low graphics setting on 720p resolution. Don't try and play Oculus Rift without 8 GB, which helps get the 30FPS Another thing to consider is the DirectX capability of your GPU. Oculus Rift needs a GPU capable of running DirectX 11.00. We suggest a 10 year old PC to play smoothly.

The compatibility tool says my cpu doesn't meet their recommended specifications and that I need a i5-4590 or better. But I was under the impression the i7 3930k was still pretty good despite its age. Do I seriously have to upgrade? It seems to handle anything I have thrown at it thus far so...

This VR look very nice, but requirement of GPU for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are way too high to my current card I will upgrade GPU to GTX 1070 when it is released. Also almost none of gaming laptop running VRs.

The search page gives me a "High system performance running" check for all fields, but this page gives me a flat-out "No" for the graphics card.

But I heard that the G751JY, when overclocked, can run the Oculus Rift.

I love confusion.

Tells me to downgrade is a gtx780 and the cpu can't run it

Would my CPU cause any problems with the Rift?

I don't think so. You could get a little overclocking done if you need to. I have the same chip and mines running at 4Ghz on a h55 with no problems.

Actually i'm unsure. People are saying that sli and crossfire will be up to the devolper and with gtx970 being with what people are sticking with for current games. That 4Gb vram might be necessary for the high resolutions.

Although the gtx960 is no slouch on its own, it will probably run current games for vr but as newer games come out you might find it lacking. Unless Devs decide that sli and cross fire must be supported. Makes sense for a card per eye. :)

I meet everything except the cpu, which is only 9% below, will I have a good experience with the rift, or will my rig not be able to handle it (and I know it hasn't been released yet, I'm just looking for speculative opinions).

Thanks for the advice. I was planning on oc'ing the cpu a bit anyway, so that works out pretty good. Im not getting it anytime soon so this post may have been a bit premature but hey, better safe than sorry. Thanks again.

No im afraid not. Maybe you can play some lite indie games with your rig but big quality games wont be an option.

So, since my gpu is only 38% better than requirements, does this mean I'd only be able to play pretty ugly looking games on it? Only having 38% of my gpu to use

i hope NOT!... i think you can run any game on it.. your GPU is the best of nVIDIA now.. so it SHOULD run any game on it.
