I got The Witcher on sale recently, and so far the combat mechanics have taken some getting used to (a polite way of saying I'm not enjoying combat). Do they get refined/better in The Witcher 2 or are they the same? I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I'm kind of on the fence about it. Now, I'm just trying to gauge whether I should be excited about TW3 or not. Thanks...

Combat on Witcher 2 is somewhat annoying at first, it took me a while to figure out how to fight lol

Thanks. I'll keep at it. I've read that the game picks up once you start traveling to the different cities and get better weapons (I'm still using the ol' rusty sword), so I'll stick with it. Speaking of that sword, I'm disappointed they didn't have a better weapon for Gerald to start, considering that he starts at "Witcher HQ." They just give him a rubbish sword that was lying over in the corner stuck in a log.

Yea, but if you did get a better sword, there would be no sense of achievement. Its better to give the player some crappy gear at the start.

Right, I get that, but it makes no sense story-wise. If you wake up in the forest with amnesia, fine, you take whatever's lying in the bushes. But if you're at the headquarters of your warrior guild, you wouldn't just get a rusty sword.

Most likely at high-not sure about highest. This game is going to be a serious RAM hog, a CPU hog, and because of the open world, a GPU hog. Update your rig as time goes on, though! You never know how demanding games could be! cough cough Crysis 3 cough cough.
Nice rig, BTW.

no you're going to need so much video memory and ram that a 64-bit operating system won't be enough(theoretically a 64-bit os can address 16 exabytes of ram in case you didn't know)

Guys come on. It won't be as bad as you make it look. I remember I used to play Assassins of Kings in high resolution with my GTS 250 512mb. Can't wait to get a kick ass PC this summer!!! I wish that this will not be a trilogy though...its one of my favorite games...

It is the last part of the planned trilogy. There will be no more Witcher games after this. They want to look beyond to newer properties. Sad? Sure am. But deep inside I'm satisfied. Who would 'throw away' an IP with the reputation of the Witcher franchise? Developers who don't want to milk(so to say) their [hard earned] successful franchise - CD Projekt RED. Be assured, they are going to make their best game yet with TW3 and you can be sure it'l rock from all corners.
Give it a thought a and you'l be happy too :)
Cheers!

They say that "much of the game has been implemented", so the graphics won't be too different from witcher 2 HD, so its better not to except much for the graphics, but tooo much for the gameplay

i'm a fan of the witcher. i just love how detailed and authentic those games are, especially assasins of kings is a masterpiece in my opinion. i also appreciate that the developers don't trim down their engine as some other do, yeah witcher 2 is high demanding on max settings but thats the price for outstanding graphics features like ubersampling. i hope witcher 3 will be a worthy continuation of this series.
