To run Microsoft Flight Simulator on high graphics settings your PC will require at least a 4GB GeForce GTX 970 4GB / Radeon RX 590 8GB with a Core i5-8400 6-Core 2.8GHz or Ryzen R5 1500X CPU. 16 GB will also be needed to achieve the Microsoft Flight Simulator rec specs and get 60FPS. Microsoft Flight Simulator needs a graphics card thats at least as powerful as a GeForce GTX 770/Radeon RX 570 4GB paired with Ryzen R3 1200/Core i5-4460 3.2GHz CPU to match the min specs. This PC setup will deliver 25-35 Frame Per Second at Low graphics setting on 720p resolution. To be able to run at all you will need at least 8 GB system memory. Your GPU is expected to be able to deliver DirectX 11.00. We suggest a 4 year old PC to play smoothly.

These are my specs and I can run MS Flight Sim 2020 with 20-25 FPS @4k low-med or 30-40 FPS @1440p med. & 60-90FPS running High-Ultra settings @1080p
Honestly 30 fps is more than enough for this sim.

Maybe at 1080p low-med. Honestly, this game doesn't need tons of fps to be playable! I have a 1660 Super and I can run 4k 20-30fps low-med settings, and I play @1440p @30-40fps on med-high. I wish I had a 1440p panel b/c my 4k one is bad looking on any resolution that is not native 4k. Everything is blurry and text/objects are super "broken" If that makes sense, The texts and lines on the monitor become almost unreadable with the breaking up of the text that the monitor does.
Either way, 1080p is doable for sure, also, this game uses about 32-40gb of ram when I play. 16 GB should be enough. It is basically the min amount for this game.

is 8 gigs playable? i can handle a few stutters no issue but is it gonna be playable at all? Or do i really have to stick in another 8 gig before playing this?

I voted yes because... although 8gb is technically below recommended specs, I think your fine @1080p though with low-med settings.
I have 64gb and I've seen this game hit over 40gb of use. It's overkill, 16gb was almost not enough for me @4k or @1440p resolution @ med to med-high settings. With the 16gb option, I was left with about 1.5gb of usable ram left. Watching twitch and/or YouTube became slow as heck.
@Alpaccino31388 I think you can run this game, even with 8gb of RAM. (Although, if you have a DIMM or 2 lying around, I'd highly recommend using it as well, even if it means lower RAM speeds).
BTW DON'T believe what others say, this game is totally playable at 25-30fps

Thanks for the long reply. I ran the game at all medium settings 1080p nothing set to low and got about 25-40 fps ( i also saw it go to 48 fps for a while near open areas) but all in all totally playable , if anyone has the same setup as me even with 8 gigs 1600mhz ram there are almost no stutters and it doesnt even feel like its at 30 fps lol it feels more like 45 when its at 30

According to Tom’s Hardware, at those settings you’ll average 50FPS. Of course in low detailed areas and or high altitudes you will hit 60+.

Well ive seen its performance on an rtx 2080ti which barely only goes to the 60's in certain areas otherwise its almost always in the 35-50 fps range im talking realtime benchmarks not toms hardware lol go watch a youtube benchmark video or something please
