You play as Jason, the Greek king. Jason's wife, Alceme, is assassinated and Jason avenges her by killing the assassin. He sealed her body in the temple where they were supposed to marry. Jason learns that the golden fleece, a magical artifact known to carry the power of resurrection, is the only way to bring her back to life. He leaves his land under the rule of his uncle and sets out on the newly constructed Argo to bring back the golden fleece, and possibly, his bride. Jason recruits the Argonauts, including Hercules (or Heracles as he was called by the Greeks), Pan, Achilles, and Atalanta.
