This is the official site of TORCS, The Open Racing Car Simulator. TORCS is a highly portable multi platform car racing simulation. It is used as ordinary car racing game, as AI racing game and as research platform. It runs on Linux (all architectures, 32 and 64 bit, little and big endian), FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, MacOSX and Windows (32 and 64 bit). The source code of TORCS is licensed under the GPL ("Open Source"). You find more information about the project in the menu bar on the left. If you need help have a look at the FAQ first, I added a new Researchers section. You can contact us on the torcs-users mailing list.
Your PC will need a graphics card thats as powerful as a GeForce FX 5200/Radeon Xpress 1200 Series and it should be paired with either a Duron 2.0GHz/Celeron 1GHz CPU to match the Torcs recommended system specs. This PC setup will deliver 60 Frames Per Second on High graphics settings on 1080p monitor resolution. 128 MB will also be needed to achieve the Torcs rec specs and get 60FPS. Another thing to consider is the DirectX capability of your GPU. Torcs needs a GPU capable of running DirectX 9. We suggest a 16 year old PC to play smoothly.
