You're right Squee, and even your amusing typo can't detract from that fact.

In other news, the demo's out. (Links updated on game details section too). I'm going to download it now and cry myself to sleep.

Chopps my dear, dear chum, I'm afraid that yes, you are going to be disappointed. Your expectations are in the land of "cannot possibly be reached", as well you know, and no amount of attempting by the developers to stick authentically to the feel of the original is going to mame you eleven years old again.

Everyone remembers the line "How appropriate, you fight like a cow". But me, I pine for "I'm Guybrush Threepwood and I'm selling these fine leather jerkins".

I'm going to be disappointed, aren't I? I know I shouldn't let nostalgia cloud my judgement but, damn it, I just can't help it. Monkey Island 1 is sacred to me.

I too am gladdened to hear the humour's there though. That was my number one fear.

Cheers for the review, Squee. I'm still a little disappointed that they're releasing the new adventures as episodes - guess I'll wait for the inevitable bundle before I check 'em out. Good to know the humour's still spot on though.

I haven't played a Monkey Island game since I finished the second one (cos of the voice acting - Guybrush Threepwood speaking? Witchcraft!). Does that make me a bad person?

I'll be giving this a miss unless it gets VERY good reviews. Strangely, I'd buy an episodic Grim Fandango - here's hoping you're right Squee (and you are about so many things).

This brings me back. I think I'm going to have to go into my parents loft to find all my other Monkey Island games!

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the episode-style gameplay - I'd rather just have one, meaty adventure. Still, the trailer seems promising, and the Sam & Max seasons were well worth playing through. I think we should go for optimism!

My natural optimism makes me think "Wheeeeeee! My life is complete!"

My common sense makes me think "Episodic games are a conspiracy against the game-buying public, and the third Monkey Island game was pretty rubbish anyway..."

We will see. I'm looking forward to the inevitable Grim Fandango resurrection - if you excuse the pun.

Oh yes. I had a feeling some new Monkey Islands would be announced, with the recent comeback of adventures on PC and WiiWare. I just hope these new episodes can match the original two games, and that insult swordfighting makes a return. I am rubber, you are glue...
