Don't be so sure, even I can't run this on Ultra. I don't know why, but my FPS is under 30 on 4xMSAA and AAx8

why can't a 8400gs run it?

It lacks the general GPU horsepower, taking stuff like shader units and memory speed in account.

Hi, my rig is nearly the same as Batspider. It says that I can run the game on high setting but the framerate is very poor. Any tips?

To compare, Ultra ; No AA ; No textureFiltering = ALWAYS 60FPS, nice ! (personally i can't see the diference between MSAAx4 and AAx16 both turned on and off)

I have seen nothing online about these requirements being wrong. You should be able to run on Ultra settings. :)

Ok. Maybe I mispoke. For a solid 60fps, you need more than this. This runs at 65 to 70 on my rig with a single 290.

But are you also using full SuperSampling Wooooooowwe? That's where I think that "low" framerate is coming from.

Tried out the game yesterday, fantastic optimisation considering the graphics quality. However, I did notice quite few fps drops, some rather large, when entering a new area, which I'm assuming is just my mediocre GPU throwing a hissy fit while it tries to render the textures....

continued from previous comment

....so maybe it could have done with a teeny tiny bit more pre-loading of the textures to avoid some of those rather annoying fps drops where I'm standing there waiting for my fps to climb back up again. Can't wait to buy a decent gaming PC early next year!

That is on the high preset, no AA. Would you maybe recommend medium preset no AA for me in this case? I tried that and it was a little better, still getting some fps drops though.

My guess is the frame drops are caused by loading. If you had ddr3 RAM, I bet those drops would be gone.

@ZeroHour060 I figured that...How much would it cost to upgrade from 4 GB DDR2 RAM to 4 GB DDR3 RAM?

You might as well get 8GB of ddr3 RAM, if your motherboard supports it. Not sure how much it would cost you in New Zealand. But for me, 8GB of DDR3 is around 80 bucks.

@ZeroHour060 I can get:

Crucial 8GB DESKTOP DDR3 1600Mhz DIMM 240pin Non ECC PC3-12800 Desktop RAM

for $109.25

Altough if I'm planning on buying a new PC next year anyway, might as well just wait for that, right? Which, if everything goes to plan, will be by about the end of March next year.

If you're using high AA or sampling, that will be where that comes from, because I'm running it fine on a mediocre GPU (GeForce GTS 450) on the high preset with no AA and apart from the occasional fps drop when entering a new area, it runs great.
