i would suggest you to skip this game
When you city gets bigger you will get 10FPS even with the best GFX .
This is the worst optimized game ever it only supports single cpu core

So would i be right in saying SimCity 5 is more like a "Fit what you need in a box" puzzle game, a glorified Tetris if you will. While CitiesXL is more like an actual City Simulation? SimCity seems like a casual game with limited appeal, at least until you buy access to the full version of SimCity 5 by purchasing dlc when EA and Maxis start releasing it

It's great. The maps are absolutely huge and it's really fun. I'd rather play SimCity 5 though but that's because it's simpler :)

far better in my opinion. The cities you can create are far more realistic than simcity. There are plenty of simple to install mods to help balance game play to your liking and plenty of cool buildings. Definitely recommend CitiesXL over Simcity.

Here's your fix. Go to XL nation and look thorough the mods. There are heaps of good mods that even out the gameplay. Polution, resources, money, whatever. With the right mods you can pretty much make it a sandbox mode (remember you can pause time also while you plan). The mods are also very easy to install.
