I ran it very well, a few lag-spikes with some explosions and some textures flickering, other than than that the game runs almost flawlessly

This game would get at least 4 stars if it weren't for the terrible optimization. This game refuses to run smoothly even on modern machines. Unbelievable. Still, I am enjoying the story mode.

Man, You have not added your resolution. You can play it at highest settings possible[in the game] with heavy[full] aa and you will get very smooth fps with that rig[Fx-8320,R9 270X and 8gb ram]

Never going to happen. Microsoft already owns 2/5 (pc & xbox in > xbox/ps/wii/pc/other) of the gaming market! And the question is pretty much disappeared from the gaming community and now there are no people asking for this since they all know it from the past halo releases since Halo 3! If we can create a petition with at least 5-10 million people signed in it, MS will take it into consideration!

Game runs on maxed out settings on HD 3000 at 1280x720 resolution and 40 fps average with x2 AA... Keep AA at x2 or if it is not smooth enough for you, disable AA altogether...

Good to know, my i7 gaming laptop is down for repair so I quickly swooped up a third generation i3 with the HD 4000. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming that will work very well.

Anyone have any tips on getting it running on Windows 7 or 8.1 (I have both, doesn't matter which)? I tried the Catroot2 thing and compatibility mode, neither seem to work, I keep getting the "LIVE Gaming failed to initialize" error.

I got it to run on my windows 7 pc. Just because it says Vista only on the package doesn't mean it won't work. Just run it in compatibility mode for Vista.

Just run it in compatibility mode for vista or windows 7. Since you have windows 8 its unpredictable and very unlikely it will run.

No you can play also in win 7 that i already have did.
But it requires a patch. But played a long time ago when it was released.

Vista was the only system out at the time newer than XP, it was just their way of making people upgrade from XP (one of many) to make it not work on XP. There is also a patch for XP to run it. Currently runs on all systems XP and above.

My Intel HD 4000 runs this maxed with x4 AA at constant 60 fps... Even while recording with bandicam it stays at 30-44 fps... This game even runs on HD 3000 and GeForce 210 on max settings no AA at 30-50 fps... It is no challenge for your rig... You can Crysis 1 and 2 on high settings mate and Crysis 3 on medium...

I don't think a Pentium D will run Crysis 3 on medium lol, the first few levels are intense for CPU usage with the rain and weather effects etc., but pretty spot on otherwise, especially based on that GPU.

Easily... This game is maxed out on any Intel or AMD dual core CPU and 2 GB RAM... Your Radeon HD 3600 is also well above the recommended for this game...
