In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 PNY 1GB OC Edition are noticeably better than the AMD Radeon HD 8760 (OEM).
The HD 8760 has a 235 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 460, but the GTX 460 has 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 8760. As a result, the GTX 460 exhibits a 2.8 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the HD 8760. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.
The HD 8760 has a 235 MHz higher core clock speed than the GTX 460, but the GTX 460 has 16 more Render Output Units than the HD 8760. As a result, the GTX 460 exhibits a 8.5 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the HD 8760. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.
The HD 8760 was released over a year more recently than the GTX 460, and so the HD 8760 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GTX 460.
The HD 8760 has 1024 MB more video memory than the GTX 460, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, the overall memory performance is about the same.
The GTX 460 has 46.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 8760, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 460 is noticeably better than the HD 8760.
The Radeon HD 8760 (OEM) has 640 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 460 PNY 1GB OC Edition has 336. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 8760 is 544 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 460 is 514. The HD 8760 having 30 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the GTX 460 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.
The HD 8760 transistor size technology is 12 nm (nanometers) smaller than the GTX 460. This means that the HD 8760 is expected to run slightly cooler and achieve higher clock frequencies than the GTX 460.
The Radeon HD 8760 (OEM) requires 80 Watts to run but there is no entry for the GeForce GTX 460 PNY 1GB OC Edition. We would recommend a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 8760 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the GTX 460. The two GPUs have been recommended a PSU with the same amount of wattage. As such, there is no need to worry about which will more significantly affect your yearly electricity bills.

Mini Review | Overview Radeon HD 8760 (OEM) is an OEM Only, Fast-Middle-Class Graphics Card based on the First Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture. Architecture The GCN Architecture succeeds the 40nm Terascale Architecture. In addition to being produced with a 28nm Technology, the GCN Architecture adds other Technologies that allow for energy efficiency. For example, ZeroCore Power, a long idle power saving technology, allows the Graphics Cards to shut down by itself when the Monitor is turned off. GCN also adds Improved Anisotropic Filtering, DirectX 11 Tessellation and the Partially Resident Textures (PRT) Technology, which enables future games to utilize ultra-high resolution textures with the same performance as today's small and often repetitive textures. GPU It equips a GPU Codenamed Cape Verde PRO which has 10 Compute Units activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 1000MHz. Memory The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 256-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1125MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 80W, it requires at least a 450W PSU with one available 6-pin connectors. Performance Radeon HD 8760 (OEM) is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon HD 7770 and performs exactly like it. System Suggestions Radeon HD 8760 (OEM) is best suited for resolutions up to and including 1600x900. We recommend a Decent Processor (Intel Core i3 Quad Core/AMD FX Quad Core) and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance. | GeForce GTX 460 PNY 1GB OC Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 460. The biggest features are increases in the core-clock that went from 675MHz to 765MHz and from 900MHz to 925MHz, respectively. According to most benchmarks, the performance boost is around 8% when compared to the standard GeForce GTX 460. |
