In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 520 Zotac Synergy 1GB Edition are significantly better than the AMD Radeon HD 8350 (OEM).

The GT 520 has a 160 MHz higher core clock speed and the same number of Texture Mapping Units as the HD 8350. This results in the GT 520 providing 1.3 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GT 520 has a 160 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 8350 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the GT 520 providing 0.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 8350 was released over a year more recently than the GT 520, and so the HD 8350 is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games when compared to the GT 520.

The GT 520 has 512 MB more video memory than the HD 8350, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the HD 8350 has superior memory performance.

The HD 8350 has 4.3 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GT 520, which means that the memory performance of the HD 8350 is marginally better than the GT 520.

The Radeon HD 8350 (OEM) has 80 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GT 520 Zotac Synergy 1GB Edition has 48. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 8350 is 26 and the actual shader performance of the GT 520 is 78. The GT 520 having 52 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the HD 8350 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The Radeon HD 8350 (OEM) requires 25 Watts to run and the GeForce GT 520 Zotac Synergy 1GB Edition requires 29 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 250 Watts for the HD 8350 and a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GT 520. The GT 520 requires 4 Watts more than the HD 8350 to run. The difference is not significant enough for the GT 520 to have a noticeably larger impact on your yearly electricity bills than the HD 8350.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
Radeon HD 8350 (OEM) is an OEM Only, entry-level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Terascale Architecture.

Terascale was AMD's first Unified Shader Architecture. In addition to being manufactured with a 40nm Technology, against the 55nm of previous Graphics Cards, it supports DirectX 10 and the Shaders now called Shader Processing Units have been redesigned and do all the Graphical work of Pixel and Vertex Shaders.

It equips a GPU codenamed Cedar PRO which has 1 Compute Units activated and thus offers 80 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit Operates at 650MHz.

The GPU accesses a 512MB frame buffer of GDDR3, through a 64-bit memory interface. The memory clock operates at 800MHz. The size of the frame buffer is adequate.

DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for Crossfire, Eyefinity, Stream Acceleration, PowerPlay and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 18W, it requires at least a 250W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Radeon HD 8350 (OEM) is a Direct Rebrand of Radeon HD 6350 and performs exactly like it.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is extremely limited and even the older GeForce GT 220 is still faster.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Intel Celeron) and 2GB of RAM for a system with Radeon HD 8350 (OEM).
GeForce GT 520 Zotac Synergy 1GB Edition is a special edition of NVIDIA's Entry-Level GeForce GT 520, created by Zotac.

Overclock: Central Unit
The Central Unit runs at the same speed.

Overclock: Memory Clock
The Operating Memory Clock runs at 533MHz while the Frame Buffer remains the same: 1GB. This is a gimmick and in no way benefits the GPU.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling System remains the same.

Without Overclocking Out of The Box, GeForce GT 520 Zotac Synergy 1GB Edition is as fast as the reference GeForce GT 520.
