In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GT 710 are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon X800 Pro.

The GeForce GT 710 was released over three years more recently than the Radeon X800 Pro, and so the GeForce GT 710 is likely to have far better driver support, meaning it will be much more optimized and ultimately superior to the Radeon X800 Pro when running the latest games.

The GeForce GT 710 has 768 MB more video memory than the Radeon X800 Pro, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. However, overall, the Radeon X800 Pro has superior memory performance.

The Radeon X800 Pro has 43.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GeForce GT 710, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon X800 Pro is noticeably better than the GeForce GT 710.

The GeForce GT 710 has 48 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon X800 Pro has 12. However, the actual shader performance of the GeForce GT 710 is 78 and the actual shader performance of the Radeon X800 Pro is 4. The GeForce GT 710 having 74 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Radeon X800 Pro performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce GT 710 requires 30 Watts to run but there is no entry for the Radeon X800 Pro. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GeForce GT 710.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GT 710 is an Entry-Level Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Fermi Architecture.

Architecture
The Fermi Architecture is manufactured with a 40nm technology and uses a technique known as Hot Clocking: The Shaders are clocked twice as fast as the Central Unit. While this leads to a reasonable performance boost, it causes enormous amounts of energy dissipation, leading, ultimately, to a significantly higher operating temperature.
Fermi is also the first GPU architecture with fully cached memory access which increases memory performance.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GF119-300-A1 which has 1 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 48 Shader Processing Units, 8 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 810MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 1GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 898MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 30W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and it relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power, meaning no extra connectors are required.

Performance
GeForce GT 710 is a direct rebrand of GeForce GT 620 v2.
Gaming benchmarks put its performance somewhat below Radeon HD 6450.

System Suggestions
We recommend a modest processor (Pentium G) and 4GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 710.
The Radeon X800 'R430'-based 110 nanometer series was introduced at the end of 2004 along with ATI's new X850 cards. The X800 was designed to replace the position X700 XT failed to secure, with 12 pipelines and a 256-bit RAM bus. The card more than surpassed the 6600GT with performance similar to that of the GeForce 6800. A close relative, the new X800 XL, was positioned to dethrone NVIDIA's GeForce 6800 GT with higher memory speeds and a full 16 pipelines to boost performance. R430 was unable to reach high clock speeds, being mainly designed to reduce the cost per GPU, and so a new top-of-the-line core was still needed. The new high-end R4x0-generation arrived with the X850 series, equipped with various core tweaks for slightly higher performance than the 'R420'-based X800 series. The 'R480'-based X850 line was available in 3 forms: the X850 Pro, the X850 XT, and the X850 XT Platinum Edition, and was built on the reliable high-performance 130 nm Low-K process.
