In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia Tesla K10 are marginally better than the AMD Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition.
The HD 7850 was released less than a year after the Tesla K10, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.
The Tesla K10 has 7168 MB more video memory than the HD 7850, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the Tesla K10 also has superior memory performance overall.
The Tesla K10 has 166.4 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 7850, which means that the memory performance of the Tesla K10 is massively better than the HD 7850.
The Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition has 1024 Shader Processing Units and the Tesla K10 has 3072. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 7850 is 849 and the actual shader performance of the Tesla K10 is 2289. The Tesla K10 having 1440 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the Tesla K10 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 7850.
The Tesla K10 requires 300 Watts to run but there is no entry for the HD 7850. We would recommend a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the HD 7850 and a PSU with at least 650 Watts for the Tesla K10. The Tesla K10 has been recommended a PSU with 150 Watts more than the HD 7850. The difference is significant enough that the Tesla K10 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 7850.

Mini Review | Radeon HD 7850 XFX Ultra OC Edition is a special edition of the powerful Radeon HD 7850. See the standard version for more information about it. The differences include an increase on the core-clock that went from 860MHz to 975MHz. Benchmarks indicate a 7% boost when compared to the standard edition. | Tesla K10 is a server GPU part of the Tesla Series released by NVIDIA in 2010-2012. It'ss designed to solve the most complex high performance computing problems out there and based on the Kepler GK104 (same used on the GTX 680) but the drivers aren't certified for games. Therefore, even if Tesla K10 is powerful enough for even the most demanding games, it might not be compatible. Tesla K10 is NVIDIA'S big step, since the Kepler architecture is thrice as efficient as the Fermi architecture used on previous Tesla GPUs. |
