In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 SLI are significantly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 Golden Sample Edition.

The GTX 570 has a 82 MHz higher core clock speed and 64 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 470. This results in the GTX 570 providing 51.4 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 570 has a 82 MHz higher core clock speed and 40 more Render Output Units than the GTX 470. This results in the GTX 570 providing 32.6 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 570 was released less than a year after the GTX 470, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The GTX 570 has 1280 MB more video memory than the GTX 470, so is likely to be much better at displaying game textures at higher resolutions. This is supported by the fact that the GTX 570 also has superior memory performance overall.

The GTX 570 has 168 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 470, which means that the memory performance of the GTX 570 is massively better than the GTX 470.

The GeForce GTX 470 Golden Sample Edition has 448 Shader Processing Units and the GeForce GTX 570 SLI has 960. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 470 is 582 and the actual shader performance of the GTX 570 is 1405. The GTX 570 having 823 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the GTX 570 delivers a massively smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the GTX 470.

The GeForce GTX 470 Golden Sample Edition requires 215 Watts to run and the GeForce GTX 570 SLI requires 410 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 550 Watts for the GTX 470 and a PSU with at least 750 Watts for the GTX 570. The GTX 570 requires 195 Watts more than the GTX 470 to run. The difference is significant enough that the GTX 570 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 470.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewGeForce GTX 470 Golden Sample Edition is a special edition of the high-end GeForce GTX 470.
This edition comes with a dual-fan custom solution and overclocked out of the box in the central unit which was increased from 607MHz to 650MHz, while the operating memory clock is now of 850MHz, instead of 837MHz.
Benchmarks indicate a 7% performance boost when compared to the reference card.
GeForce GTX 570 SLI is a solution of two GeForce GTX 570 put together using NVIDIA'S SLI technology.
SLI relies a lot on proper driver support and may cause micro stuttering in FPS below 30. This means this combination might even perform worse than a single GTX 570.
The optimal performance it delivers is largely better than single GeForce GTX 580 and relatively close to GeForce GTX 590.
Therefore, this combination is sufficient for gaming at 1080p and most demanding games can be played at the highest settings.
