Mini Review | Overview Radeon R9 295X2 is a Dual-Graphics Solution based on the First Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture. Architecture The GCN 1.1 revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture adds new important technologies and is largely oriented for energy efficiency. New technologies such as PowerTune and TrueAudio are the biggest additions as well as DirectX 11.2 support. GPU It equips two GPUs Codenamed Hawaii XT which together have 128 Compute Units activated and thus offer 5632 Shader Processing Units, 352 TMUs and 128 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 1018MHz. Memory Each GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5 Memory, through a 512-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz. Power Consumption With a rated board TDP of 500W, it requires at least a 850W PSU with two available 8-pin connectors. Performance Radeon R9 295X2 Competes with GeForce GTX Titan Z and proves to be much faster than the latter, especially at 4K. Radeon R9 295X2 is the fastest Dual Graphics Solution as of June of 2015. This edition comes with a custom triple fan cooling solution which by itself should allow a slight performance boost, as GeForce GTX 770 benefits from the GPU Boost 2.0 technology. Also, it has been overclocked out of the box from 1046MHz to 1150MHz while its boost clock is now of 1202MHz. The memory clock was left untouched.
